I like the exterior front, the new wheels and the black trim around the windows but the only thing I think looks 'ok' in the interior is the shift boot.

Otherwise I wouldn't buy that option based on the interior alone!!

Yuck !!!

I love that interior--although i'm not crazy about the "black cube" dash trim.

Yup. That interior is GREAT except for the black cube trim.

On the plus side- A buyer who felt as I do would have absolutely no difficulty swapping it for black or alum trim over at Fanatics.

I AM very curious to drive one of these HPP 330is.

Me too. But I do think $4k is over-priced. As for the trim, I'd put in high-gloss black like I have in my 325i.

I would do the same.

And I GUARANTEE that guys with a 323i or 325i over at Fanatics would be lining up to give you their black trim and a wad of cash in exchange for this black cube crap.

I was just thinking-

BMW should really offer this package for a nominal price increase (if at all) over a std 330. It should be like choosing between vanilla or chocolate-- same price, different flavors. A buyer could either choose to have a luxury 330, or a sporty 330. This would be a way for BMW to "throw a bone" to enthusiasts and make the price more palatable. They could lower the price (and please enthusiasts" by de-contenting the car. For example, they could use manual climate control, manual seats, no HK stereo, std interior "light package" rather than the "premium light package", maybe even a non-carpet floor covering, etc. They should also have done a bit more work on the engine-- I really think they could've come up w/ more than 10 hp. I think this would greatly please a small percentage of BMW buyers, who act as "brand cheerleaders".

Yeah, but there are no current or past stock 17s that I prefer. The M68s are played out and I am one of like 3 guys who never liked the 44s.

So I'm not sure what I'd do with the rims. I sure wouldn't run 18s, though.

And a real high performance package would not include performance impairing rims.

See the other thread where the package specs are listed. The package CAN be ordered with Imola.

I like this idea.

In the old days, many manufacturers went that route, and it worked well...until someone (IIRC, Porsche) realized that they could charge MORE money for a decontented higher performance version of a car and get away with it. The most recent attempt to do something similar that I can think of was introducing the FRC (fixed roof) version of the C5 Corvette for the 1999 model year. It was slightly less expensive and lighter than the Coupe, but the car was much more rigid due to the fixed roof. It had all the higher perforamance options and initially most of the "luxury" options were unavailable. Power was identical to the Coupe, however. By 2001 the FRC had become the Z06.

I think it is a nominal price increase. Take out the premium package and the sport package - it's nominal. I love leather for a lot of reasons, but I love not sliding around the car in the too wide seats even more. Does this make me a brand cheerleader? It depends on if you can get a discount on MSRP and if the suspension upgrades are meaningful.
