Has ANYONE had problems with Autozone Duralast battery with only 850cca

I am about to buy a Duralast battery from Autozone for my 2001 530i.
It only has 850cca vs OEM spec of 875cca.

Has ANYONE ever had problems with this battery - especially with cold starts?
Should I worry about the extra 25 cca?

I live in frigid boston area...

From what I've read elswhere on the web, Duralast batteries are made by Johnson Controls, and are among the best out there right now. No, you needn't worry about the slightly lower CCA's.

went in.. gave them my phone # and the old battery and they gave me a new one. no questions asked.

installed it in the parking lot and BAM... not a single problem. i might have gotten a defective one, not sure since i was doing some testing and the OBC was registering 12.1V when the car is turned off (with radio and V1 on) and when the car is running, the alternator is pumping out 13.9V. *scratches head*... yeah... me confused too.

My brother had a problem with it too (99 740i). He said that he just went there and swapped it out, and no problems since. However he did trade his car in for a Jeep since then.

2 year warrenty and when you buy the battery, you give them your phone #... it's recorded and they'll pull up their records when you bought it to offer you the warrenty.

Works fine for a V8, no problems for a 6er

I have the exact same battery installed in my 540iT, and it's plenty cold here in NJ. Works fine for a V8, certainly no problems for a 6er. Had it installed for 18 months now. With all of these Autozones installed it's not unusual to have a few go bad. I'm sure just as high if not higher percentage of the real expensive OEM batterys go bad early as well

I'm sure the Autozone battery is fine, but if you are sweating the 25CCA's...you can get an oem equivalent battery made by East Penn. They are sold at Batteries Plus stores under their private label brand. Batteries Plus has a store in Woburn and Marlborough, I just checked. I paid $93.99 for mine. I bought the standard "flooded" design, but they also make a Absorbed Glass Mat battery at 900 CCA that is claimed to have a longer life, but costs another $25 or so at Batteries Plus.

Here are some links:

I'll pile on here. I'm on about 4 weeks with my $60 Duralast 49-DL. No problems that I can tell...knock on wood...A couple of 20 degree nights put an end to the OEM Bimmer-battery in my 528.

Unfortunately if they are that old, it is unlikely Autozone uses the same vendor for their batteries, and even if they did, unlikely using the same construction techniques. In addition, there are pretty large variations in performance and quality within sizes (just check the differences in Consumer Reports), so unless any of them are Group 49, again the information may not be helpful.

Regardless, the Autozone battery is good and they back it as well.
