Argument Leads To Stabbing
Posted Feb 27, 2007 by The Tampa Tribune
Updated Feb 27, 2007 at 05:39 PM

TAMPA - A Monday night dispute between two men arguing over a woman ended in bloodshed for one man and an attempted murder charge for the other, Hillsborough County sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said.

Deputies arrested Michael Wait, 45, a meat manager for a local grocery store, after he stabbed Sean McGarvey, 41, in the torso several times with an 8-inch kitchen knife, according to an arrest report and jail records.

The attack happened shortly after 9 p.m. in an apartment complex parking lot at 1250 Skipper Road, where both men live. The men were arguing about Wait's girlfriend, Carter said.

McGarvey was rushed to Tampa General Hospital. His condition was unavailable Tuesday.

Wait remained at Orient Road Jail late Tuesday with no bail amount set.

That's my brother. He was sitting outside his apt smoking when the neighbors were fighting. The girl came out crying and he got up and walked over there, the guy came running out and stabbed my brother.

No, he wasn't part of it until he got up to see what was going on unfortunately. I was told he had surgery today but they are having a tough time with him at the hospital. He has some issues and isn't taking his meds so he is paranoid. He doesn't want anyone to come there so I am respecting that for the time being.

Holy crap -B.

Best wishes out to your brother for a speedy recovery.

This "The men were arguing about Wait's girlfriend, Carter said." is why I don't trust the media.

Good luck
