Wow I hope your bro is OK. As far as diabetes goes they usually check blood sugar levels along with other vital signs. Then medicate appropriately. Its standard stuff, these days.

You know what's funny, they didn;t know until I had told them and because of his general mindframe I guess they felt sorry for him or something. They had given him about 8 cups of coffee with 2 packs of sugar per cup They checked his blood sugar shortly after and said he was good surprisingly. That's kind of why I asked about the transfussion.

I'm so sorry that this happened to your brother. I hope he recovers soon.

That is one creepy looking dude. Unbelievable he's a Meat Manager -- who did the hiring in that store?

It's a crap little store in an area of town called "suitcase city". It's kind of a dope hole but finding something cheap enough to pay for with his disability check has become very hard. He's not always been the best big brother, mostly because of his mental probs which I can't hold against him, but he certainly didn't deserve this

Ouch!! OK, they test blood sugars here in the ER, paramedics have a portable kit too.
Mebbe they do things different in FLA. Hope he does OK with all this.

It's not going well, I really appreciate the thoughts. LTS, you need to PM me. I sent you a PM a while back and need to talk to you. I guess the news is good in the fact that the lungs seem to be clearing and he might be without chest tubes soon if we can get him to cooperate. If you haven't ever dealt with a mentally ill person I wouldn't expect any of you to understand. It's a struggle but I think we are making progress

I gather now testing blood sugar wasn't really possible as the transfussions were going faster than he could bleed out They are aware now and monitoring it constantly.

omg - I am so sorry. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayer... we only know each other from the forum and this news tears me up... I am speechless other than that.
