The rules (or what i think should be rules) are as follows:
18 or younger:
1.) No Show-Offy Driving (i.e. burnouts, donuts etc...)
2.) DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RACE OTHER ENTHUSIASTS
3.) Do not brag about your car.
4.) Do not talk down about other peoples cars. consider them all equal.

I am curious to know how old you are. Based on this topic and grammar I put you at the age right around age 18 (+ or -). Some people act younger as they get older. Scary, but true.

I am not sure if you're being 100% serious or what, but 18 or younger? Racing applies to ALL ages. No new concept there. If you're 17+ you're an adult in most cases and can/will be prosecuted as such.

Many adults I run into on a daily basses on the streets are far less mature than most teenagers I've ran into. Don't categorize. *

Bragging, don't talk about people's car (s), and they're are "equal", etc. is pure nonsense. This is ridiculous. Of course people out step boundaries, but for the most part don't when talking about cars at a car show. People can say what they want within reason about anyone and anything. Deal with it appropriately if need be.

There's a such thing as cconstructive criticism. This is not a kids event; it never was, never has, and never will!

What's next; a buddy system? No thanks.

When I come down to Bimmerfest and I see illegal activity, such as street racing, I am going after them and they will be stopped either by me or by a fellow officer.

A kid that works for me has a '97 Dodge Ram Pickup. One day he came to me an requested more hours because he was "saving up for something." I asked him if he didn't mind to tell me what he was saving up for. He said "Man, I saw these awesome spinners on Ebay, and I just have to have them for my truck. They are dope, yo..!" In the end, I explained we were currently unable to provide him with any more hours.

No such thing as being off duty

I don't think last year was too bad. Sure the speeds on the rally got above the limit for some (my clutch broke...so I wasn't one of them ) but other then that I didn't see that there was any racing going on.

I put on a little Z4 gathering up here back in November and told the participants if they started to get out of hand, I would call the CHP on them myself.

This is why I no longer go on the rally. When it was "official" I would go on them. I've been on two and each year it progressively got more reckless and unorganized as the number of cars grew sharply each year. When I decided I wasn't going to participate any longer (last year), Jon cancelled it. Good call on his part.

Each year, more prevalently than the previously year, there is a and will be again a much greater Police presence; particularly CHP because of incidents in prior years.

In addition, expect more officers on the roads from Friday to Saturday that weekend. Plus, factor in Cinco De Mayo and the DUI checkpoints and zero tolerance enforcement in and around Santa Barbara. It won't be a weekend to play on the roads.

So if you're not supposed to "talk down" about anyone else's car, what's the ruling about "talking down" your own car? Because while all cars should be seen as equal, some (such as mine) are less equal than others.

I think my friend (Uberpanzer) won that a couple years ago with his gutted 320i. All of the guys with new expensive cars were absolutely disgusted. It was awesome.

i have 20" chrome rims...im scared to go.

How?
If you're in an unmarked BMW, it's likely you could get pulled over or your actions could be interpreted as racing.

Why?
Not that I'm supporting bad behavior, but wouldn't you want to just make a phone call and report the plate, and keep enjoying the 'fest? You'll probably be less likely to get an ulcer that way...


Just my 2 cents.

Personally, I won't be doing any burnouts or getting in bragging contests, but that's 'cause my ego doesn't need it. I figure if there's no damage and nobody gets hurt, I'm not going to stress out about stupid punks doing stupid stuff. If somebody gets hurt, I'm certified in First Aid & CPR.

Are you serious?

1.) Officers of the law know their own.

2.) Because there's no such thing as being "off duty" or "off the clock" when one is a public servant. It would be like an "off duty" EMT driving past an accident, calling it in, and continuing to their destination. It's just wrong.


Operator - "911, what's the problem?"

EMT - "I just drove past a bad accident on 101 South past the Earl Warren Exit."

Operator - "Oh. Jim, it's you. how many people? how many cars?"

EMT Jim - "OH, I didn't stop. I'm off duty. My kid's birthday is in an hour and I need to get him a present."


Yeah, that would look good on the 6 o'clock news.
