I have a GMT I and II, great watches. In addition to a Seadweller.......I'm personally looking for a Steve McQueen Explorer II now, and also a stainless steel white face Daytona for under $10k. I deal directly with the GM of my local Tourneau as I've bought many watches from them, so if you want a watch contact, let me know, he'll be more than happy to take care of you if I refer you. If you're interested, just PM me.

Jeff, wwb4 is correct. i bought the pre-cut lamin-x film. I like it as, i can easily switch back to clear if i want and the stuff works great. no chip or cracks. It was $20-30 bucks IIRC.

A heads up...you might want to pull the inline fuse that came with the AE harness to make sure it cuts power to the AEs...mine didnt so I repositioned the wires in the relay so the fuse would actually do the job intended...

Interesting. I read on here that some folks actually upped the fuse from 5a to 10a, to cure a cold weather issue. So, if i read you correctly, you suggest a live test with AE rings on- pull fuse to make sure they turn off? I am gonna guess you had a problem, and the fuse didn't melt/terminate power, hence the warning? Do tell more..

Did you take them completely apart or just enough to fit the rings in? And how are they held in place?
BTW, you did a good job, they look good.

I just got some angel eyes too, I can't figure out how they're supposed to be mounted. What size diameter are those rings to just make sure I got the right size?

Thanks to all for the kind words on the install. Appreciate it.
utgrad, thanks for the info. definitely check that out, and may PM you for details on how you did the mod to the relay. stika, freestyler and 2slow4u, I wish i would have taken some pics while i had them apart, but wife had the dig. camera that day. Anyhow, taking the headlight assembly out and apart was really straightforward. Check out the tutorial on bmwtips.com for details but basically it is 4 bolts that hold the assembly in and once you get the headlight assemby out, it is just a series of clips that hold the front and back halves together. Once that is done, you pull 2 clips (per lense) that hold the inner glass lense in place and then remove the glass lense. Carefully mark/plot on the the glass lense where the AE ring will go and use clear RTV silicon to adhere them to the front of the glass lense. The rings are sized so that they fit snuggly inside the black housing opening, so use that as your template to mark where to silicon them to the glass. Once you get them open you will see what i mean. My Umnitza Predator Chromiums came with plastic clips at the top of them. This is for an E46 application, and you have to carefully remove them before silconing them to the glass lenses. Once the silicon is dry- i put mine in the oven @ 200 degress for 15 minute to quicken drying. (DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK) you put the assembly back together. There is just enough room at the top of the housing when you fit the glass lense back in place to feed the small white wires coming off the rings out the back. Lastly, you will drill a small exit hole to route the ring wires out the back of the black housing. Sounds harder than it really is. Go ahead and PM me and we can go over any details if anyone desires. |
