missfire according to the computer
Gentlemen,
I just bought a Z4, 31kmiles, excellent condition. It failed OBC2 test, #6 spark plug missfires. I drove the car, drives like a charm, looked at the spark plug, looks good, measured the coil, looks good. I do not belive that this problem is real. I reset the computer, drove a few miles, no problem yet. What else shall I do? Many thanks Zsazsa |

Reset the ecu code and see if it happens again. If it does, start with the plug and then the coil.

Or switch plug and/or coil for a different cylinder

Could also be an indicator that the Mass Airflow Sensor needs to be cleaned.

At 31K you must be just about due for an Inpection II service, which includes replacing the spark plugs.
At 40K miles I was getting missfires on my '03 3.0 after the car sat for a week or more. I replaced all of the plugs - easy to do - and it has been fine since. It's likely no more than that. Last edited by Bill_R; 01-07-2011 at 12:03 PM. |
