We have an '02 and its only in the shop for oil changes. I guess I'm lucky or something.

I'm sorry beimerdude but not all of us are lucky enough to go out and buy anything we want with daddy's money.

Umm ok...

On a seprate note, I think the 02 7- series was more like a guinea pig for buyers to test!

If I remember correctly Microsoft was bragging about BMW using some version of mobile Windows in the 2002 and 2003 7 Series.

The timing was strange because BMW was supposed to have changed to Java as the operating system for the 2004 7 Series shortly after MS started bragging about it being Windows based.

MB was in the MS brag list along with several other manufacturers.

Granted all high end german cars have terrible reliability, but Bdude always feels the need to post negative comments about the 7 series so just learn to accept it.

I have a 7 series, and I love it. Just because I bash it sometimes for legitimate reasons does not mean I am biased against BMW. If I ever was, I wouldn't have a BMW in the first place. I could have easily traded my car for a Mercedes or something if I really hated my 7. Just like I sometimes bash the 7, (praise it too), I have also bashed my Bentley, and my SL. I just feel that compared to competition, BMW sometimes always lag in certain areas. Also, had it not been for the face lift the 06 7 series got, I would have never gotten a 7. I was not a fan of the original 02-05 models.

I think it was a 2005 face lift (FYI) and where does BMW "sometimes always" lag?

Hmm, when I went online to build my 06 750, I didn't feel I had that many options that I felt I had with other competitors, say the S class or the Audi A8. I also feel that BMW is sometimes too inhibited to make their electronics more modern and on par with the competition. Just like the I-Drive, compared to the 07 S class command system and Audi's MMI system, it offers very little options. I was also disappointed by BMW service. I felt many times that service advisors usually had no clue to some of the well known issues the 7 series have, like the engine rattle that I had to take my car to service over 5 times to get it fixed. BMW with the introduction of BMW individual to the US though now allows people to customize their BMW 7 series by BMW as opposed to doing it aftermarket. But that was a little late for me. I would wish that a 7 series with the sports package would have a visible exhaust? Just the like the Mercedes AMG sports package. It's a sport sedan, right?
