Oil Pan Replacement

2006 530 XI: 130k miles.

My Indy said my oil pan gasket is leaking, $1500 for replacement. My question is what are the chances the problem is actually the pan and not the gasket ?

I have done the cardboard under the car, no visible sign of an oil leak. I do add a Quartz of oil every 3-4k miles infrequently. Will consult a second opinion soon, just wanted to get feedback from forum members!

Lastly, mechatronics transmission sleeve replacement including pan and filter for $1000, is that a fair deal?

Any response will be highly appreciated!

I've had the Mechatroncs sleeve, pan, gasket and fluid replaced in my '07 750 for less than $850 at my dealer's shop' The pan and gasket were replaced in my wife's '08 535i for less than $800 but that was under warrantee with no cost to me. The 750 was worked on two years ago and the 535 4 years ago.

The Xi cars have a lot of stuff to be removed before the oil pan can be dropped. That is the most likely cause of the high cost of repair.

I'd look around for another quote on the transmission maintenance. An indy shop should be able to do it for less than $1000.
