Front brake pad replacement?

Hey guys,

I was wondering once the "Brake Lining Service" light comes on, how long do I have before I really have to change the pads? Reason why I ask is I am planning to do the front brakes myself and cannot start working on it until next week or so. I also need the car now to drive around since it's my only car. Any ideas? Thanks!

becareful when u do it ~ i just replaced it myself and also the brake sensor ~
im still unable to reset the maintainence schuedual ~ gotta take the wheels off tmr and see wut's wrong with it ~

btw u should change it asap ~ i changed it 2 days after the light comes on ~ left side pads r almost gone ~ like 5 % left ill say

How hard is it to install? I have only done Honda brakes in my life, is this any different? For the maintenance light, do a search for "Braking Lining" and a thread should come up with instructions on how to reset that light.
