Exclamation E39 535i V8 Steering Issues

I just brought a 2000 535i SE Auto from a guy who had left the country and was in a hurry to sell it was pretty good condition with 46k on the clock and FSH but only cost 6k so im pretty happy. the car drives amazingly i LOVE the engine but the steering seems a bit vague and although there doesnt seem to be much play when im stationary when i driive it feels like it needs constant (albeit very minor) correction. I have had the tracking done and checked things like tyre pressures. I read that the 535 has a different steering system to some of the others but this just seeme a bit wallowy any ideas?

I don't know anything about 535's as we didn't get them here. But if your E39 is a V8, it had recirculating ball steering rather than the rack and pinion found in the i6's. Do a search for all the debates surrounding the two.
