New Review of M6 Rattlebox on Yahoo Autos

There is a new review on the M6 convertible on Yahoo auto:

Quote:
You can tell who really has one and who is a poseur from the reviews. The writers mimicking the auto mags and simply reporting the features don't know what they're talking aboiut. They're dreamers.

This is my 7th BMW and it is formidable. I recently traded in my 650i convertible for the M6 cab and there is no comparison. The extra 140 HP completely change the character of the car. It is truly a supercar for half the price. Handling on twisty mountain roads of both cars is about the same, and you can't really use all of the M6's power there -- nor do you want to since you have to turn off DSC traction control to get into the fastest shifting speed (speed 6), but on the straight, in P500 sport, DSC off with shift speed 6 it slams to the 8250 red line so fast you have to remember to shift up.

The shift paddles have a nice touch but they aren't great. They rotate with the wheel. So, in turns when shifting you have to use the gear lever on the center console. I'm sure BMW will address that.

After the 1200 mile break in (crucial for the future reliability of the state-of-the-art, oversquare high revving engine), when the extra 100 HP (from the 400 without the M button being pushed) are unleashed - Katy bar the door! While the car gulps gasoline (duh - the auto mags all report that), the real problem is the tiny gas tank. I barely get 200 miles between fill ups. And at 50-60 miles to empty (according to the iDrive), I get the low fuel warning. More than a bit of a pain.

All in all a great car. The best I've ever owned. A lot of fun, but also very demanding. So while I drive it more than my other cars, I still need a break from giving it all the concentration it needs to be driven right. By the way - reports of a hard top convertible are also inaccurate. The cab is already a 4350 lb. tub. Adding another 200 lbs even with a CF hard top (for probably another $20K) is not going to happen.
It may not appear for a couple of days, though. It has to be reviewed for content and I just posted it.

The guys who posted reviews there are mostly 15 year old pimply-faced kids dreaming about the car and parroting what they read in the auto rags. (Not Bear, as much as I kid the Bear I love him and he is really real. Grrr.)

I suspect that 80% of the reviews on the auto sites are by people who don't have what they claim. I guess that's why we insist our new members POST PICS!

I think that happens more on Roadfly.

Things I could never understand is the people that claim to have these cars and complain about the gas mileage...Hello...If you can afford the car the last thing on your mind should be the extra $20 per week you are gonna spend on gas...
