328 vs 335..There is no comparison

Anyone considering a 328 vs a 335 please listen to me...spend the extra few $K and buy the 335. I own a 328 E92 coupe and I constantly get burned at lights by run of the mill cars. I wish I had waited for the 335xi instead of buying the 328xi. Dont listen to all these guys who say the 328 is more balanced yada yada yada. There is no comparison. The 335 is a right sporting car and the 328 is really an entry level vehicle to get new people into the brand. The 328 handles well but $45K for a car with 230HP....what was I thinking?

I got smoked by a Hyundai Elantra V6 last week. A HYUNDAI.

ahaha, this reminds me of those new Hyundai commercials that compare their cars to high end luxury brands... and come off with one liners like... the bmw does have more cup holders!!

p.s. To OP...I don't know about you but I like to test drive and think before I spend $45K.

Mr. Hyundai might have popped a boner having out-accelerated you, but he's gonna need viagra to console himself in virtually every other area of performance/handling/luxury.

As for you, my friend.... most drivers would choose a "wimpy" 328 in lieu of a Hyundai anyday!

Mein Auto: Audi S4 cab
As somebody who is stepping out of an 2004 S4 cab (and before that a modded E34 540i) to buy a lowly 328 (and a CAB, no less...), I have ZERO problem with the decision. After years of being a stoplight-gunslinger, I'm ready to take it down a notch...and I finally decided that one way to do it was to dial down the ride.

And frankly...if the guy who has a Hyundai feels good after slagging me at a light, all that I need to do is remind him that I am driving a BMW 3-series 'vert...

...and he's driving a Hyundai.

+1

I have these younger guys trying to race me all the time. With their ricer cars. I never bother with them. They PROBABLY can smoke me with their modded cars, but who cares, I drive a Bimmer and they don't and I will not bring myself to their level.

If you want to be a street bully drive a bully's car, like a Z06 vette (C5 or C6). They're still going to kick sand in your face and vacuum your doors off after you get that 335i.

Take your 328i on a road course and see if that Hyundai Elantra can keep up.

Look on the bright side, you could have paid $50k plus on a 525, and got smoked by a soccer mom driving a mini van.

And afterwards they will probably be vacuuming out the inside of your car, because guys like that tend to work at places like carwashes.

As others have said, most of aren't 16 anymore and could care less about street racing. I take my Miata (another car you would hate) to open track events and pass high HP cars all day long. There is more to a car than how fast it can go in a straight line.

That's it! I am sooooo embarrassed that I just purchased my 328xi a few weeks ago. I'm listing it on Craigslist and buying that Hyundai I've waited for all my life. I'm looking for a dealer that specializes in KD (Korea Delivery).

Just traded an S4 for a 328xi and am very happy that I did. S4: Very fast, poor balance, HEAVY, and got awful MPG. 328xi: Fast enough, superb balance and handling and much better MPG. For most city/mixed driving, it was impossible to get the S4 above a few thousand on the tach. If you did, you were going way too fast. It's fun to be able to rev an engine. On the highway, the S4 had huge passing power, but the 328xi is fast and nimble The 335 is a great engine, but a huge one that will be hard to really open up in most daily driving.

AWD Guy...

I hear you, bro...I only wish that BMW built something on the lines of an S4 cab - AWD, convertible with a pedal for my left foot (why - EXACTLY - do they NOT do that, BTW? They do have all three features...so why don't they do them TOGETHER?).

Oh, well...you can't have EVERYTHING.

If you're going to own, and by own I mean 5-7 years, get a 328, if you're going to lease get a 335. There's no way that twin turbo will be nearly as reliable over that span of time, if you're going to own. In the meantime. you'll have a car with very balanced handling, that will require little to maintain in comparison.

A lot of people say this, but there really isn't any scientific data to support this. By the way, I am leasing a 335 anyway...

This is absurd. Stop racing like a [you choose].

I have 184HP in my car. Would I pay 10% more to have 10% more power? Noooo!
0-60mph in low 7s is comfortable. You have more power in your 328.

but as a reader i tend to see more problems from 335 than 328 in this forum...well at least that's what i've observed so far...
