2007 X3 transmission
Are both the automatic and manual transmissions for the 2007 X3 made by BMW?

BMW does not make transmissions. AFIK all of the manuals used in BMWs since 1990 are made by Getrag or ZF. Most or all of the automatics are made by ZF or European GM.
The six speed manual used in the X3 is made by ZF. Ref: http://data.bmrparts.com/bmwparts/11447320666501U.html I did some searching in the 'net and can't find a reference that says the who makes the GA6L45R auto transmission used in the '07 X3. I don't doubt that it is GM though. I did find the list of ZF automatics though. http://www.zf-group.com/pdf/AppChartpasscartrans.pdf

The 6L50 (and similar 6L45) is a 6-speed longitudinally-mounted automatic transmission produced by General Motors. It is very similar in design to the larger 6L80/6L90, and is produced at the GM Powertrain plant in Strasbourg, France.

BMW does not make transmissions for any of its models. They are sourced from GM, ZF, or Getrag.

This thread is over six months old...
We've gone over this several times.
