Urgent! S52 water pump...
I'm doing a little preventative maintenance on my '00 M coupe: replacing my water pump and thermostat since I'm at 64K miles.
I have the replacement water pump in front of me. I'd be willing to make a substantial wager that the impeller is plastic on this. So I need to know: didn't BMW discontinue the plastic impellers a couple of years ago after the early pump failure debacle? Should I head back to the dealer right now? Thanks in advance. Mike |

im almost sure i read in the new roundel magazine that it was changed to the metal impeller after all the plastic impeller problems, here is the part number the etk calls for # 11511406650 = reman pump is the only number listed on my cd
it also only gives me the option of S50 or S54 motor the number i listed was for the S50 note i have no way of knowing if this is the latest part number it could have been superseded but i think it should be metal |

And they just changed it back to a plastic impeller (latest Roundel). Hopefully it will be better than the last plastic one.
