more tranny advice...plz help

ok so heres the deal...im pretty sure that my transmission is done for...so i was going to just have this other one put in it...i just want to make sure that the tranny is shot and that i have to replace it, but i thought that i would give a list of symptoms that are happening so you guys can let me know if its the tranny or just bent linkage, busted synchros, etc. here goes:

1. when clutch is let out in neutral, it sounds like it is still in gear (grinding)

2. shifter has to be FORCED into gear and sometimes wont even go into any gears

3. if finally put into gear, usually pops out

so is this my whole tranny? or something else?

Have you got a quickshift mate?

I would say it is either the throwout bearing or linkage issue. Swapping the tranny seems a tad OTT to me...

Pirate is the throughout bearing the same thing as what some people call the thust bearing. The bearing you get with some clutch kits?

Yes buddy, thats it. i was gonna put 'thrust bearing' but didn't know if that was the right name hehehehe

Am pretty sure you DO indeed get it with clutch kits

I would get your shifter checked before replacing your whole transmission

pete...what do you mean "have you got a quickshift"?

Short throw shifters = quick shift.

If not properly installed or manufactured, these can really mess up your trans, and cause accelerated wear on the synchros.
