trouble with k/n

cant get car to run right with it in . can hear a lot of ticking coming from engine

I dont know what an air filter would do to hurt an engine? I put mine in and it ran better actually

The K&N will only allow more air into the system

Replace the old box and see if it is any better, i imagine it is just a coincidence there are issues buddy

just did not like all the ticking noise from engine thought i would ask if anyone knows why it does this

Check your MAF sensor, If it's plugged in or theres anything clogging the intake pipes?

Is it original? Is it the kit that comes with the MAF included or just an OEM replacement type? Or cone type?

Am 99% sure it would not come with a MAS buddy

Is the car ticking when the car is running? is it a fast tick, slow tick, loud, quiet?

car is ticking when idleing but it hisses when i turn it off

If it is like the car is expelling excess air, that is normal

Mine does it (i love the sound)

The ticking could be a sticking hydraulic lifter buddy

so ur telling me its ok if it makes that sound . i like the noise but thought something was wrong

i agree with pete on both topics.

Although the ticking could be your timing chain or the tensioner as well. 50 part for the tensioner

Could there be some loose debris in the airbox.

man that would suck to have those prices over here for parts.

I am gutted as i REALLY wanna replace mine but the part cost + fitting is EXPENSIVE!

Mine did that last week for the first - and so far only - time. I was rather taken aback by it. It sounded like a turbo waste gate opening!
While it sounded kind of cool, it's a bit worrying when your car makes new noises.

The intake buddy, am sure there is a blow off valve just underneath it

I always thought it came out of the intake boot and filter but...
