E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

I am CONSIDERING the 1er I really need to sit in it and drive it but i wish it was 200 lb less than the E92 and it doesn't look to be- it is smaller why the same weight?
Also (and yes this is coming form a Z4 M Coupe owner) I am seeing that a lot of people that have the TT motor are getting average fuel economy on par or worse than my Z4M! I average about 20-21 around town/mixed and 25 on the highway

Fuel economy is imprtant. I have a 04 125 and do pretty well in houston, my wife has the 335 and we get 28 long haul, actuallly it is long but no one would belive it. iIn town it is thirsty. The power made me put a deposit down today on a 1er black on black.

I'm pretty sure those are anomalies.

In my 3000 mi ED I got just a shade under 20mpg, and that was under very unfavorable conditions: lots of 2nd and 3rd gear roads/hills/mountains, high speed runs on the Autobahn, Nurburgring laps (allright, threw this in just to impress you ), etc.

I think a 335 would get at least 2-3 mpg better than an M3 - how much more fuel efficient is the Z4M than the M3?

igood question on the Z4M vs the M3- all things considered I am happy with the Z4 mileage of course if I drive it like speed racer everywhere (and YES that is fun) I would be around 17 in the city but driving "normal" will yield about 20-21. I would assume the M3 would be the near the same?

I don't think so - I get 17-18 driving like that in my ZHP. An M3 should do maybe 15-16mpg under the same conditions (hey, it's got just a liiitle extra power than my ZHP ).

I could be wrong, of course - soon enough I'll get my 335 redelivered and I'll be able to post the mpg.
