License question

I am doing an ED in September. Do I need an IDP (International Driver's Permit) or is my regular US driver's license enough?

Thanks. This site has been very helpful to me.

Austria used to (still does?) require IDP to accompany your US license.

The general consensus of a few discussions about IDP was "it's worth getting it and not needing it..."

It's only $15 @ AAA and the cost of two passport photos...

Good luck!

That text sounded familiar. Whoever posted that lifted a lot of material from Moto Europa and possibly other sources.

I have been debating this for a couple of months. My research leads me to conclude that the only place that really requires it is Austria. I will be driving through Austria on my way to Lake Garda. Ultimately I decided to get the darned thing (which is nothing more than a translation of your US license) just because. However if I was not passing through Austria I would have skipped it.
