2007 nav dvd???

So I drive a 2003 745Li but somebody was saying that they upgraded their navigation cd to the new 2007 navigation dvd. I'm a little confused. Would I just buy the new 2007 cd/dvd and put it in the back or will i need a whole new navigation "dvd" player? I am only confused because they said that the 2003 was cd and the 2007 is dvd.

I have a 2004 745 Li and just purchsed the 2007 all US and Canada NavDeq DVD for navigation from NavDeq for $199 and all you have to do is take the old one out and put the new one in. It takes a couple of minutes for everything to load and then you are good to go....no bumps at all.

is it just a dvd disc that needs to be purchased or is it a whole dvd player/and dvd disc? I'm asking because I know somebody with a 2007 750li who will give me their dvd out of their navigation dvd player.

Unless you have the DVD system, you would need the CDs. To upgrade the '03s CD system to the DVD, you need the DVD HW and a SW patch from the dealer... Some have done this due to a CD nav system failure, but I am not sure of any substantial difference (other than have 1 disc instead of 6-7).

I have the dvd nav player. So all I would need is the navigation cd from a 2007 750Li correct?

If you already have the DVD nav system working in your vehicle, then to my knowledge all you need is the new map DVDs. That is how it worked in our Volvo - just insert the new DVD, and in a little while you're up and running...

So, if i pulled the dvd out of my friends 2007 750Li, then it would work in my nav system since I have the dvd nav??

Just curious... does your friend not use his navigation?

I would think that if you have the Navigation DVD player in your trunk, the dvd disc should work fine.

lol no he's turning the car back in to the dealer and he has an extra nav cd and he wants to give me it. In my nav dvd player I have CD #5, so this new dvd disc will allow me to use only 1 disc?
