Cool the Trip Of A Lifetime

There is no way I could ever recreate the events that took place during our European Delivery. Pictures are worth WAY more than the thousand words many say they are.

Our European Delivery started in Kansas City and headed to Philadelphia, stopping in Nashville to change planes. We then flew to London, and spent 2 days there, and walked it at least 2 times over. Lots of sights to see, and plenty of history there. It was, however, VERY expensive.

We flew to Munich after staying in London, and went directly to pick up an alpine white E92 335i. We tooled around Munich for 3 days, and had a ball. Olympia park and the BMW museum were first on the list, then Marienplatz, and some touring of the city.

We then headed to Paris, through Zurich, and ended up getting lost thanks to TomTom. After 3 hours of looking for the car, we made a mad dash out of there and headed onto Paris, and arrived to the hotel, where we were upgraded to the "Master Suite", courtest of the Courtyard by Marriott, thanks to my e-mail telling them what I had up my sleeve...

We toured Paris for 3 days, and on the 2nd day, we see the Palace of Versailles, the Louvre, and head to dinner at Altitude 95 (atop the Eiffel Tower) and had a great meal, and afterwards, I proposed to my girlfriend, and drew a huge crowd of people that went crazy applauding afterward.

We left Paris to head to London on the 3rd day, and had nice drive up to the Chunnel. We took the Chunnel and finished the trip to the airport, where our hotel was, and I dropped off the car in London.

A huge thank you goes out to Irv Robinson - Everything went according to plan, not a glitch to report, and wonderful service (I'm 8 hours away even)

Thanks Irv !!

I have a more extensive write up, and complete pictures (had to downscale them to allow for traffic) at:

http://335i.white.prohosting.com

Please enjoy

Congrats again!

Too bad you had to downscale your pics, as it's hard to view anything now...

Ever heard of picasaweb? (Google free web album system)?

Good luck!

Thanks! - we didn't get to the delivery center until around 12:30, but we did end up meeting another 'fester that was picking up an E93 vert.

How was Altitude 95. I didn't make a reservation. Other than the obvious, how was it and was it worth it?

Congrats on the car and the life changing event.

It was pricey... I won't lie. Food was great, I thought it was worth it, but I planned it. Would I do it had I not proposed... well, in hindsight, yes. You get to go up to the observation deck without waiting in line (you still pay to go up) and the food was on par with any other nice restaurant in Paris. We spent ~ 70-80 Euro on dinner and dessert, which was average for most decent restaurants in Paris.

If you're wanting a nice dinner, I would recommend it, but there are more convenient places, and less expensive places, if money is of concern. I must admit, you aren't paying just for novelty though. You got what you paid for, and I can honestly say, aside from the engagement, I would eat there again if I wanted a nice meal (parking wasn't convenient though, we walked for a while). Many places that are novelty eating places (Rain forest cafe comes to mind) usually lack in the taste department. Not true with Altitude 95.

Most entrees were ~ 25 Euro to start, and went up from there. Dessert was ~ 10 Euro. VERY good cheesecake.

The atmosphere was ok, nothing spectacular, but the view of the city, especially watching the sun set from 300 Ft up, was TOTALLY worth it. (no pics of that ) The sunset over there was ~ 10pm, and we watched it while we ate dinner.

Overall, I'd give it a thumbs up

There's just something about being up there (now I'm being biased) that was an experience...

I made my reservation a bit in advance, but you can make reservations to day of... There was plenty of extra room in there, yet they turned people away for not having a reservation... didn't make sense to me... But you MUST have a reservation, otherwise, well, you're out of luck. You can have a drink at the bar.

That is indeed

Somebody else must have good taste in jewelry too

Thanks

I'm in the middle of getting a site set up for my side photography business, so I just used the free site for something quick.
Here's a pic of the ring - brand new design (it's just princess cut, but new to Tiffany & Co). She's gotten lots of compliments on it. I changed my mind because the design is a classic. It was funny because I had picked out another ring, and when I went to pick it up before we left, I saw this design, and changed my mind...so... Tiffany and Co let me borrow a ring, and while I was in Europe, they shipped in one with the specs I wanted, and we went a couple days after we got back and picked up the one she would keep. The whole time she had no clue... it was totally unexpected, and I thought she had me pegged, because she ask earlier that night if she was going to get any presents while we were there.

The know me by name down there; When we came in to pick up the official ring, the entire store knew of my plans for the engagement, so we had to bring our laptop in and show them all the pictures. The salesman was awesome, and was pretty excited. Didn't try to get me to buy anything I didn't like or want, and NEVER tried to get me to buy anything bigger (and they had access to ANYTHING I wanted). He even remembered my new fiance's name when we walked in, and I hadn't seen him in 2 weeks (and he had never met her) Needless to say I was very impressed. It was a VERY pleasant experience. I was shocked at how much trouble they went through for me.

Congrats on the car, trip and proposal. Reminds me of my first trip.... same concept surprise engagement (Tiffany as well). You and yours will have a great story to tell, I can honestly say that I have not gotten tired of telling mine to everyone as we have been planning the wedding for the last two years (enough time to have done another ED for the XIT).
Since you have a Mac; I can not recommend the service they offer through iPhoto for making a hardcover book, and cards. We made the book for the engagement parties and sent out cards as well; they come out great and you get them very fast. If you have any questions just ask! BTW make sure you take out a separate insurance policy on that ring!! many insurance companies have gotten stingy and will not replace a brand name ring with the same ring, they provide an equally graded one.... or at least check with your agent to see what is covered. Once again best of luck on your wedding and re-delivery of your ride!

PS- I am trying to plan another ED for the honeymoon BUT it is not going over well, unless it is just a stop over and she can not seem to justify a new car just yet! Maybe you will be more successful than me with that!

Since you have a Mac; I can not recommend the serviceENOUGH!! they offer through iPhoto for making a hardcover book, and cards.

Please excuse the Typo in my previous post..... iPhoto services are GREAT!!
