instruction manual please!!!

I just got a 1997 523i but the manual was written in french! does anyone have it in english? i just need to read some parts of it so that i can make good use of the car with all it's features, like for example i don't understand the whole steptronic thing which mine has.

Go to e38.org, then scroll to the bottom of the screen. You will find a link to a pdf file of the 1997 series 5 manual. Isn't the internet wonderful, everything is here. You just need to find it.

Thanks a lot. i visited the site but didn't find the 1997 5 series manual.but i downloaded the 1997 7 series. I'm guessing there isn't much difference between the two series so i should find what I'm looking for in the 7 series manual.

Thanks a lot. I did not get the 5 series manual there but I did get the 7 series manual, I'm guessing they are basically the same,so I'll just use the 7 series manual.

You can go to www.bmwusa.com and click on owners circle. Probably have to enter an email address and create a password to register a free account. From there, you can enter you vin and download the owner's manual. Hope this helps. I went and downloaded mine, I think it's a 2000 5-series manual, but it's close enough for me...
