2008 528i Oil Change

Specific to this model, have anyone tried doing your own oil change? Any howto's you want to share(w/ pics will be exceptional)? Reason for this is I'm planning on doing it every 6K. Thanks. Here's an example on an Acura MDX

If you have an 08' I believe you're required to take it into your dealer to maintain your warranty lease or not. Otherwise, its a filter and oil drain plug.

I don't know how the 528i oil change differs from the 535xi, but if you do a search for the 535xi oil change there are some very detailed post including pictures. Hope this helps.

I tried looking but couldn't find it.

Anyway's, which one here is the oil filter housing, red or yellow? I think it's the red but would like to confirm that. Do I need a special tool to remove the cap? Thanks in advance.

It is the red arrow. You need a special "cap" tool that fits over the oil filter. You can get these from the dealer but I've seen them at auto parts stores for much less. Remember to use a torque wrench on the filter and NOT tighten it beyond 18 ft lbs.

I was able to access the above link, but since Im not a member of that site *yet* no pics. When I go to do mine I will post pics. The Oil filter on Top of Engine near front is pretty straight forward. I just need to determine the access panel fasteners below the car...but Im not due for new Oil for another 12000 miles so it might be a while...I may get under mine and snap a few pics.

To be honest doing your own oil change is not worth for that 528i because you can go to any Indy and get it done for $89. Doing it yourself won't save u any money. You need 7 quarts of oil cost $60, good filter $20 so u not saving much and the fact tht u have to get all the way underneath the car trust me. I've change my break pads rotors spark plugs put new valve cover gasket and those were not easy
