Finally back from my X3 Euro Delivery...

Hey guys,

I just wanted to post a few pics of my new BMW X3 3.0si. I picked her up July 30 in Munich and drove her around for a few days. Here's some pics...

Same Spot

Hey Stangmat, what a coincidence, last fall I took a pic of my 335 on the same spot you did, almost in the same position and like weather conditions. Enjoy your new X3.

Good Luck.

Wow! That's crazy! We wouldn't have seen the road at all, but the navigation told us to exit a different way than we came in. The road was perfect for a little photo shoot!

How did the ED go? I am working towards getting a 2008 X3 in Munich sometime later this year.

The ED was great! The whole process is so easy it's almost scary! Picking up the car at BMW and dropping it off at Harms were both very simple procedures and didn't take more than an hour in both cases.

Wow, can you order a Hummer size 6 series ?

JOEV, ED is a blast, so much that we are going for wife's X3 late November. you spend what you would spend buying at dealer, but you get the best of all, drive your car for many days, no speed limit on many sections of the autobahn, great food, great beer, great scenery. After X3 a few years to enjoy my 335 and going again.

STANG, I see you ordered the 18 inch with no sport pack. how is the ride ?, any difference with the regular 17's ?. Wife dont want firm ride. I tested a regular and is smooooth . for 2008 they added a SAV pack, no sport, but 18 wheels, privacy glass, M sport steering wheel and running boards. I am going for it, but worried about the ride.

Good luck guys

XFOS, I never drove an X3 with the 17"s as I knew I wanted the 18"s from the get go. I have to admit that my judgement of smooth is biased by my current vehicle, Mazda RX-8 with sport suspension. Compared to the Mazda, everything rides like a Caddy. The X3 in Germany was firm, but I wouldn't say it was stiff or jarring at all, nor did it wallow like a Lexus. Also, the German roads are WAY more manicured than ours here in the states, so I really can't be a good judge of how well it will ride here, but from my test drives I never thought the 18"s caused any bad motions.

sorry if I'm wrong, but isn't the 08 X3 supposed to be built in BMW's SC plant? Or is that for the next generation?

The current X3, including the 2008s, will continue to be built in Austria. The next generation (2010 or 2011) will be built is SC alongside the X5.

X3's 17 Vs 18 Wheels

STANG, thanks for the comments. Definetly ordering SAV pack, is worth it instead of sport. Just a little brain wash to wife that is as smooth as the 17 wheels.

Got a confirmed delivery date !, yeah, now the looonnggg wait to travel and then the looongeesst wait for redelivery. Cant wait.

Enjoy !

Sorry to revive an old thread here but I was browsing through whatever pics I could find of a Montego Blue X3 with the Sport Activity Package and this is the closest I could find. I placed an order last week for one but haven't seen the color in person yet with the exception of a 3 series. Anyway, this is minor but in that picture of the rear cargo area I noticed that the left wall is flat where that small cargo net is. My current 05' has a nice nook there where the net is so that you can store something and not have protrude out. A very useful nook I might add! What's the deal with that? Why would they get rid of that?

That is the location of the Nav Computer/DVD Drive, SIRIUS radio module and CD Changer if installed.

Thanks! I'm not sure if BMW has two different panels. They might just use the new flat one for all models. The net is still very handy.

Good question. I have no idea.

There is a lot of optional electronics that go behind that panel.

NAV, CD changer, the audio amplifier. ...

Our '07 doesn't have any of those options but we have a flat panel.

Andrew, you're a trip with your instant line drawings! A natural born engineer aren't you!? Well if you don't have any of those options and still have the flat wall then I guess mine will come that way too. Oh well, it's no big deal. I just found it to be useful.

From personal experience, if you have nav you lose the nook because the DVD drive is mounted horizontally and protrudes into that space; if you didn't order nav you'll have it.

Montego Blue with SAV

My wife loves her X3 with the bright blue and SAV package. In fact we think the 18's ride softer than the 17's on our other two X3's. Take a look at my garage for a photo of the 2008 blue/SAV.
