Hmm, Pete passed this thread up. You might need a new starter.

I did indeed and think the same

Solenoid may need replacing though which is a bit cheaper but unlikely

You can find some refurbished ones around. If its not fixable.
Btw Nelson, did the NGK Irridium plugs give you a good difference on youre four-banger ? And what type of difference, power, smoothness, throttle respnse? !?

I know about the torque curve Pirate. Its just that this engine has a bigger counter-wieght on its crankshaft than most engines. Thats the reason behind the good torque but zero horsepower.

the plugs are fine they make the car feel better on accelaration a lot smoother not so much on power though(318 )

Thanks alot mate ! Appreciate youre opinion on that ! Another reason to install them!

Although my dads a little hesitant on installing them. He thinks there too expensive for nothing ! Don't even comment please ! He's a mechaninc but doesn't like an modifications what so ever ! (Irridium plugs are not even concidered as a mod, but he's a pure OEM person !)

But, he likes the idea of the Royal Purple !!

And about youre starter motor. I think it is most likely youre solenoid. The thingy that operates a fork/arm wich moves the starter gear forward to link it with the flywheel.
Don't know about the price though, But getting out is a bit of a b1tch !
Ever seen the GM/Cadillac Northstar 32V V-8 engine starter motor postion ? THATS A B1TCH to remove ! Its under the intake manifold and remember this is a V assembled engine.

been a while for this tread but today i checked the engine
still having the same prob
on close inspection found the wire connected to the cam shaft sensor split
wiggled it around and car did the spin but not catch symtem
put some tape round it and it worked
then started it up a few times but it went back to the same prob
will the cam shaft sensor have anything to do with the starting up of the car

I have read quite a few places that say it will not stop it starting but logic dictates that it will.

Had a mate who had a similar problem and replacing the sensor fixed it though
