Ok this is driving me crazy

So even since i got my car i have thought it had an LSD cos she drifts fantastically, she kicks out in corners when i want her to and she is stable in the wet

Anyway, last weekend i decided to jack the back of the car up to check and after spinning one wheels...the worst think happened.......the other wheel spun the other way AAAARRRRAAAAHHHHHHH. i was too upset for words!

Then a collegue (rally driver) told me that i do have one but it was a worm drive diff and so only works under load

Is this true??

It is so weird, i have driven SO many performance cars with and without LSD's and i was so so so sure

I would buy one but i doubt it would benefit me as mine acts like it as one

So confused.....

btw, isnt there some sort of marked identification that denotes an LSD on these differentials?

I just did (great minds think alike) they said it didn't have one when it left the factory

I asked if the normal diff on the car would give LSD characteristics and he couldn't answer!

What about the "lay some rubber" test? That would tell you wouldn't it? It would surely be "under load" ... Two tire tracks = LSD.

Pirate. Not that I want to make you feel unhappy, but I just got the trolly jack out from under the bench and jacked the back of my car up and spun the wheel.........UUMM..they both turn in the same direction......

I was feeling a bit insecure for a short period.....

In Aust, all coupes came from the factory with an LSD and on sedans and compacts it was an option occording to my info (if not motorsport enhanced).

But one has to remember..different countries, different factory specs.

Mine has neither, but it's a 93 325is. It's also ED, so that might have something to do with it.

hey pete, do you want limited slip bad enough to buy one? i'm sure you could find one on ebay, or you can buy a quaife diff, but they're wicked expensive

just looked on bavarian auto, they do have a quaife diff for your car, about $1600 american, hope you have deep pockets
