Crimson Red X3

Anyone have a pic of a Crimson red X3 or do you own one? I really like the color...yes I know...not the traditional BMW colors...but I really like it. So what I'd like to know is if others have it and of they are glad they got it??

Thanks

Joe

I was going to order my X3 in Crimson Red, but switched to Platinum Bronze at the last minute; the brochure photo got to me. Decided to tone it down a tad in my old age.

And I've had enough heartburn with oxidizing red paint over the years (maybe BMW red doesn't, but ....).

Here are a couple of shots from this website posted by others. I've seen a couple of Crimson red X3's up close and they looked great. The color is a deeper red than the Electric red you are used to seeing on pre-2007 BMW 3-series.

If I were to order a new X3, this would be the color I would go with. Alpine white, Ti silver and the medium metallic gray are also nice. I almost went through with the Euro delivery X3 order but changed my mind and went with a 335i sedan in Crimson red with Lemon interior. The car will reach the U.S. in a few weeks (dropped it off in Zurich 19 days ago). We had such a great ED trip that I am thinking about ordering a 2008 X3 for my wife through the ED program for next summer. I would like her to get a Crimson red X3 but I think she might find two red cars in the household one too many.

I would strongly suggest that you consider Crimson red. It gives the car a very sporty look, especially if you get the 18" wheels which are now part of the Sport Activity package. For interior color, I would persoanlly go with the sand beige/black two-tone interior with light wood trim (the dark ash wood is too dark for my taste).

We've got one, but it is still in Munich.

Crimson Red / Sand Beige / Light Wood. There will be photos late next month.

Ah...It's very Red. Very. Red.

As a color I think it works very well. The shade is pleasing without being overblown, pure and very visible.

Not sure its for everyone, but if you like it, I think its a good choice.

I don't think the X3 looks bad in any color offered. Crimson Red should be fine. Conventional wisdom says you should pair it with sand/black two-tone leather, but you could be different and pair it with black and aluminum trim. Or Terracotta (if its available in conjunction with Crimson).

IMO Flamenco Red was a bit better, but BMW feels like changing to "new" colors thesedays

I had the falmenco red... it was an incredible color.. the crimson is too... garish or something. Go for platinum bronze, you won't be sorry.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I think the brighter reds belong on coupes, not SAVs. My last two BMWs were both coupes (E21 and E36) and both were red. I love the Platinum Bronze, Monaco Blue or Highland Green on the X3 - not a big fan of the red or Montego Blue - they just don't sit right on the X, in my aging opinion.

Sorry, but I really do not understand why BMW makes a car with those black running board pieces.... terrible...

I love the red color...

The thing that sucks is that you cannot get the Sports package (which rids the car of those ugly black pieces) with non-metallic paint

I don't think it's quite accurate that you can't get the sport package with non-metallic colors. I've seen Alpine white SP X3's and I think you can get it in black as well.

For an opposing viewpoint, I would think that a Crimson X3 with body painted lower panels would not look very good and I prefer the non-sport look in this color. It would just be too much red. On most other colors, I agree that the body colored lower panels looks better. I still do prefer the 2007 non-sport lower front bumper design with foglights higher up to the Sport model which looks like a pre-facelift 2006.

You are correct.. My bad..

Sport Package is available only with Montego Blue Metallic or Monaco Blue Metallic or Silver Gray Metallic or Alpine White or Titanium Silver Metallic or Black Sapphire Metallic or Jet Black.
Crimson Red is the only color not available with the sports package.. odd..

For 2007 the Sport Package comes in 7 colors.

No Platinum Bronze, No Crimson Red, No Highland Green.

You can get Jet Black and Alpine White. Have to get leather seats too.

on the face, it seems stupid..

is there a technical reason for not allowing the sports package in those colors?
