I would rather give up the plates for a car with no miles on it. Who cares if it is the same car? It was new the first time, how attached to it could you have become?

Great news!

Trade with other dealership went through and car will arrive in port on the 23rd I think. I can't believe they found a car with the exact options I had already on a boat. Wow..this Friday is a lot better than the one I had 4 weeks ago . Thanks to everybody for keeping the faith. Glad that this has pretty much been a no hassle fix. Have a great weekend. I know I will.

I've still got my ED plate for my memories. I'm not too torn up that it's not the same car. It's just metal, rubber and plastic after all.

Yes..the liability of the loss is the most important thing. I would be fine with an 07 or new 08. I'm gonna have this car for a long time so the model year won't mean as much as the miles do. The one year older won't mean much if i'm not seeling it for 6 or 7 years.

I'm still making payments. They gave me a brand new 328i loaner so I don't have a problem continuing the payments. Besides, if this goes smoothly I'm still only 10 weeks or so after original drop off to delivery which isn't terrible.

This is great news. Thanks for updating. By the way is the Murrieta Hot Springs resort still open for business? Enjoyed our stay there many years ago.

Yes great news. I hope the rest of the process goes smoothly. I don't think the springs are around anymore. Not 100 percent sure.

This is actually better. Brand new and you can break it in properly, not driving it like a mad man on autobahn.

Keep us updated on how the dealership treats you.

That's funny. I was just telling my buddies at lunch if I had known what I know now I would of hit 155 about 2 minutes after leaving the delivery center. I really babied it on my trip. I hit 130 for a minute or so. Even that was pretty fun...and the roads are SOOOOO SMOOOOTH.

Now this would be the really freaky part, if the car got off the boat with the same mileage as what you dropped off at the drop-off center, even though it is a new car.

All jokes aside, glad that its working out!

I strongly encourage you to discuss it in writing. Do not leave any ambiguity. The last thing you want is to go pick up your new new car and be asked for a check.

Ok, I sent them a request to put things in writing. I have no doubt however things will go smoothly. They have been straightforward with me since I was told the car went missing. It's so weird counting the days until the car arrives. Didn't I just do this a month ago?

I was told it was identical to the first car so it should be fine. I think the odd's are in my favor now that things will be fine.

I don't want to burst your buble.
Looking at your car's specs, I find it somewhat difficult that they'd find another one identical, so quickly.
Most plausible scenario... one or two accessories will be missing, say, the iPod, for example.
Have a plan B. What and how will you ask them to make things right.
At least have them give you a print out of the incoming car specs ahead of time.
Delivery time is too crunched. You'll overlook something. And once out the door, it's over.

Believe me. I found it hard to believe too but they were literally reading me the specs from the car and it was identical. He said he had my original order in front of him and he said they were exactly the same. He was reading me off each option and it was nuts on.

We'll have to wait and see. I could probably live without the heated seats but everything else I would definately want. Time will tell.

Maybe it was a paper mistake after all and now they found your original car.
