E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

Brakelight issues
Hey everyone, I havent posted here for quite some time, however I am having an issue and this has been a great place in the past to get solutions. Here goes:
I own a 1991 318is My break lights have stopped working for no apparent reason, I have checked all of the fuses (the Hanes manual I bought doesnt have a fuse block layout, so I checked them all) and I have replaced the bulbs. All of the other rear light components seem to be working flawlessly. Does anyone have any ideas or input as to other things that might contribute to the problem? Thanks in advance. |

If the brake switch is bad, wouldn't the brake lights be lit whenever the ignition is on?

Not necessarily. If when it's depressed and the connection isn't being made in the switch to turn the lights on, the light's won't light.

Where is this piece located, under the steering wheel? The light connection in the rear is the plug type so I am not sure exactly how to check with a wire and light. Sorry, I am fairly new to the German car setup.

I tested everything on the car, seems to be the break light switch, I ordered a new one, thanks for the info.
