"Check Engine" light comes on..
The E30 runs great...although sometimes the "Check Engine" red light on the dash will come on for one or two seconds and then just go off.
Is this a bad sensor? Any ideas what is causing it? The car runs and drives great, all fluids are checked and changed as required etc... I just don't want something to sneak up and bit me in the ass. The M20 is a great motor and hasn't given me any issues yet....

That use to happen to my 318. All I did was disconnect the negative cable for about 15 seconds, then reconnect. The problem went away for me. Not sure what cause it though.

Try tapping on the face of the instrument cluster.
If it comes on /off most likely poor contacts on the si board and plugs. A little Wd 40 will do ya right. O2 sensor on the way out will present itself the same way you describe. May take many many months to get to the point of hard failure. Unless you have access to a fault code reader you really are just guessing.
