You say you EXACTLY the same problems (as dkrieg), is that correct?

I think that is the complete list.
.

Because dkrieg's problems would be very difficult for those problems to be caused by the general module. If those problems were caused by the general module, simply disconnecting the module should correct all the problems.

You're right. As far as what I've read from the forums. Yes. If I disconnect the gm my alarm goes off. I ordered a used gm from the same year same series car as mine. Going to an Indy shop here in st. Louis next Thursday. I'm gonna try and plug it in when I get it anyways

Don't worry about the alarm siren. It'll shut off in about 30 seconds and won't get tripped again! Just unplug the module and see if it helps cure your problems. If it doesn't help then the general module is not the problem.

If you disconnect the general module only the rear door locks, rear windows, wipers, interior dome lights, key fob remote functions, trunk release, gear shift light, luggage compartment lights and a few other items won't work. Basically the general module is not responsible or any of the problems you and the OP are having except maybe the ashtray light. The ashtray light might be on the VA1 line from the general module.

Has anyone solved this problem yet?

I have 2000 528i, sometimes when opening the car with the remote key the flashers with flash, no alarm, the car will start but no turn signals. I just lock the car with the remote key and unlock it again and everything is back to normal??

2000 323i Sedan

I had the following electrical problem
- blinkers work outside, but not in dash
- hazards work outside, but not in dash
- high-beam light work, but indicator in dash does not work
- seat belt light does not turn off
- air conditioning does not work
- door/trunk open indicator on dash does not work

I did a cluster test02, and the cluster lights-up perfectly. I did the the ignition switch check by opening and closing the passenger vanity mirror with no difference in problem. I scanned the car with bmwscanner 1.4 and 4-5 different modules did not read.

I fixed the problem by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for 30 minutes. Connected it back, and started the car, problem is now gone. All dash indicators work and seat-belt light turns-off.

I hope this helps someone.
