Dinan Software Upgrade

Ok, maybe I am just used to superchips. But I called Dinan Dealer today and they told me that when you buy the software upgrade they have to plug in their system and reprogram your car. You dont actually get anything. Your paying for the software and the labor charge. Your not actually paying for a plug in device. Is this all right?

I mean... now that I think about it, it does make sense. I guess I am just so used to plug and play shark injector, and superchips.

the software is 299.99 and the labor is freaking $90. How f*cked up is that? they want $90 to take 10 mins of "Labor" to plug up a freaking computer to my car.

oh i know, i mean... when you go the Dinan route you dont actually get a nice little handheld thing for you to keep and take home. You have to take your car to the dealer, leave it with them, and let them program it for you, then they give your car back. You leave the dealer empty handed. I am kinda disapointed.

yeah. talk about dumb. I still may do it though. I really want Dinan software, somthing like software Id like to stick as close to BMW as I can.

I got the Dinan DME program and I love it. Well woth the money.

Couldn't agree more. And the drivability is actually even more enjoyable than the extra 15 HP.

Pete I been offered a remap for my 325TD. As its a diesel I've always been wary of messing around too much. What would be really nice would be better acceleration between 80 kph and 130 kph (50 mph to 80 mph). this is where better acceleration would be most useful. I'm not really interested in better top speed as she will cruise at 160kph anyhow.

Would you recommend going for it, knowing it is a diesel or would you leave well enough alone.

Who is the remap made by buddy?

If it is a well know company then i would indeed go for it as it will unlock some nice torque which will help in the areas you need

It acually a local company so no brand name. That is why I m wary.

You know me and ECU's mate, i am always over cautious

The company maybe VERY good and may have better maps than Dinan, but i would personally steer clear

I would consider a names remap though, will make a big difference

That what I was thinking. Unfortunately in this country wages are low and foriegn product are costly.

Oh well have to wait til i go back to Ireland. thanks for the advice though

Thats for a turbo engine. N/A engines wont see very much of an increase. A little, but certainly not much.

yeah i just peeped that, I have a stock engine, I am tryin to upgrade my performance. What would you suggest I do, I already bout a 96 M3 tranny to replace mine with. Still havent gotten any input on how to replace that.
But yeah as far as chips are concerned what is the best route to go, and where can I get one. I live in NYC by the way, dont think there is a dinan out here. At least i dont kno of one

I want a complete ECU remap after I get this tranny installed.
BY the way do you kno how to do it, procedure, and parts I am going to need? or no

B/c it looks like If i can get any responses on that, im going to have to take it 2 BMW and have them do it. Order the necessary parts and install it. THts going to cost me a million dollars to do that

I have an appointment on saturday to get the remaping done, however... I have an Autocross saturday at noon, so I am just going to sit in and wait bright and early tommorow (today technically)

I mean... how awful hard can it be to work in a remap? takes all of 5 mins to do.

What is autocross exactly?
