Oh dear heaven no.....

And a 6 cylinder can't make it to 60 in under 7 seconds, so a 4 has gotta be doing high 8's on a good day.

I would check what Pirate suggested. Check for air leaks, air filter, and fuel filter. The alternator issue is probably referring to a damaged, leaking, disconnected, etc. intake tube to the alternator. the tube runs from the top of your radiator plastic covering right down to it past the air box. Pretty hard to miss. Check that out.

Can't advise you on speed sensors, but they probably need to be replaced and might be misleading you on your 0-60 if you don't have a good judgment of real time speed...you might be actually doing 0-80 in that time or something and the speedo is slow! who knows

Also, I bet Pirate got an E39 M5 or something 0.0

I thought 328 manuals can do a 6.5 0-60? I'm pretty sure the E46 M3 is 4.8 0-60.

Although a 2007 hard top is 4.6, the 2003 convertible is slower - for some reason parkers.co.uk has changed its figures and now this car is 5.3 seconds - this is good though because a Gold GTI was 6.4 and matched an M3 now the M3 is way faster!

I think it's fairly easy to improve low-end speed though - it would be great if my 318 could get under 10 seconds with some mods - I don't care about the top-end as any car can go faster than you will drive most of the time!

No it's 5, the CSL will do 4.7 or 4.8.

The problem is that sometimes figures are for 0-60 and sometimes 0-62.5.

Thanks guys for all your help!

I have a ? though, how can i check for air leaks, is there a easy way? Or is the only way to manually check every tube and so on?

Where is the cam shaft sensor located?
Another thing is the car uses alot of gas lately... i thought maybe it has something to do with the gaspump?

Anyways i am going to check everything you guys suggested, thanks!
