Door panels 1992 325i

I've had no aftermarket work anywhere around my door panels, yet they still seem to be very loose and shakey especially when I close my door, too the point i think they'll fall off. Still no problems with the windows, but if anyone has any tips apprieciate it.

First tip would be to search, lots of info on these forums.

But, its really pretty easy, and is a very common problem. See, BMW actually elected to attach the door panels to the door with Scotch Tape and a prayer, so after the prayer starts to wear off so does the Scotch Tape, and it starts getting loose....

To fix it, there are 2 screws behind the door pull that keep the middle of it attached to the door so you won't just be pulling against the Scotch Tape and the door will at least shut. So, remove those, then pull the door panel off. Get about 3 rolls of Scotch Tape and make little double sided loops with it, apply liberally to the door and stick it back on there, and say a new prayer for the door panels.

Or, of course, while the door panel is off you could just buy the little plastic clips that slip onto the back of it that actually hold it on. You would know thats what held it on if you searched. But, I'd still say a prayer....or get a priest to. Those things are made of crap buddy!

Hahaha, no problem bro. Just thought I'd mention it.

Oh, and welcome to the 'Fest!!! I don't want you to feel like you can't ever make new threads or ask questions, just for common things just do a quick search first, cuz a lot of times the answers are readily available. If you don't come up with anything pretty quickly, we'll still answer it, we just appreciate you searching.

I know what you mean about the door panels. A shame BMW made them like that! My passenger one is just starting to have the front upper corner fail. I'm gonna wait a little while, its not worth my time yet. What drives me crazy is the bubbling door panel inserts......

You can get the little plastic pop rivets at the dealership parts dept for a few cents each. I replaced all of mine and my doors are solid now.

Out of curiosity, how much per? The cost isn't an issue for those little things, as I'm not gonna be doing it anyway until I replace the mid in the door that's starting to rattle, but I'd like to know. We pulled the door on dad's Bonneville and went to the stealer for the clips, I kid you not, $4.xx each for ONE little plastic clip in. Ridiculous.

Holy sh!t! And they say the mark-up on german parts in ridiculous!
I can't remember the exact price but I payed a few dollars for 20 clips. (The 9 for each door, plus 2 extras because they break easily)

Works a treat now

Similar problem with my '98 323i. I've had to take door panel off a few times due to window motor problems (panel was already a little loose and insecure) and the top strip that clips onto the row of metal fasteners just below sealing rubber strip came off. I epoxy clued the strip back on and the panel is now secure again, no rattling as door closes or trying to come off when door opens.
