Stock Speaker Connections
86 BMW 325 E: I'm restoring the rear deck where the speakers go. Long story, but the ex-owner had drilled monstrous holes in there to install "Da bombin' Bass." In any case, got another piece out of the yard, used fabric and carpet paint on it to paint it black, and I bought some stock BMW premium speakers from another Bimmerfester. My question is, on the premium speakers there are two connectors. A thin one and a fatter one. Which is positive, and which is negative? I looked for a plus or minus, but I'll be fifty next year and even with glasses..the peepers are compromised.

it should say what they are,but if not the thin one is the ++ one and the one is the -- one...

Thanks. Once I got in there the connectors mached up. I wasn't sure since it was an aftermarket refit.

You can also test using a aaa batterey.if the positive end of battery sucks speaker in than thats the neg post...if it pushes out ,than its the pos post!!

From many years of car audio installs and IASCA caraudio events.Handy when putting rear speakers 180 degrees out of phase with the rest of the sterio as not all speakers are marked!

Right. The BMW speakers I have...the premiums...they were not marked.
