Rims New look, Opinions?

What do you think on my new wheel look? I took off Alpina caps as the locks there were starting to get very bad and needed clean up, and my key was bent, so till i get a new one, i want to keep them off just in case.

So, having said that, I have a car I think that looks kinda different all of a sudden. And while I'm not sure if its better or worse then before, I'm gonna drive like this a little bit for now.

Car is dirty as it was raining here non stop for like a month (i think i saw fish walking on streets), so never mind the blau-crap paintjob! You can compare new look vs my sigpic.

Well, since you really want the M3 rims. From the second you bough the car !

I reallt think with the Alpina covers on . The rims look much much more tidy and professional than without them.

Alot of people have this look in Lebanon, starting from my cousin. Alpina's give that complete and full look. While these just don't cut it ! IMO dude.

in my defence, in real life they look much cooler, but in some sense i see your point - like something is missing, and I think that something is a bmw roundel spot in the middle which a while back i thought i could fit into, but not possible.

I've seen an Alpina E30 online, some german dude's car, in red. Stunning. And he took the caps off in some pics, and it looks just as good but only more race looking i guess. In real life it's definitely nicer. All I need is to take a good pic i guess. May be it all needs a good cleaning job... But it started raining again.... Unfekingbelievable!

On an E30, I will not argue ! Ive seen it before. They look stunning.
It gives off that *beauty/ugly racing/ricing* It also suites the E30's over all design scheme, mostly straight lines and very little curves.

But, on an a E36, you have that monumental curve at the fron ant the killer way the rear is curved/swept backwards !!! Looks like a blade from the back !

Heres probably the main difference. Qith the caps on, the rim looks much bigger (look fuller). On an E30 they would look too big ! (the E30 is kind of small)
When the caps are off, the rim looks smaller. Mostly because of the silver colour just fading out of the center and the tire takes over. Basically shrinking the rim !
It would look better on an E30, the arches are one of the only curved lines it has and woul contrast with the straight's in the design. On an E36, They would just look small !

to be honest i also kinda got the feeling the rims looks smaller... BUT may be it's again the picture, because I took it with wide lens and most of my other shots were close ups. I think Ill try to take a pic with close up as well and see the difference.

But you might be right, the caps just could be making it bigger as there is only small logo in center and it maks the radius of the wheel seem bigger I guess... so I got your point very well. dont worry.

It appears I'm an odd one out here, but I *REALLY* think its a huge improvement.
For me the center cap is just to big and blah on the Alpina's, having it off gives it a more dimensional and aggressive appearance.

I say keep em off!!!

You know that I absolutely LOVE those Alpine rims on your car, although I agree they look completely different with the caps off.

I'm definitely with phantom on this one. Leave em off- your car looks more aggressive now. I like it.

hehe, my key broke as i tried to put them back in after i cleaned and put some Wd40 into the locks to make them turn better. So one i get new key, ill see again, but looks like Ill have no choice but keep them off the car for now.

BTW, here is some different pics. I think they dont look too bad here. The only reason i went ahead with the idea, is that in real life the things look quite nice, and yes, aggressive...

Okay, key broke . Youre stuck with that look. Try them out for sometime and get some opinions from youre buddies in town .
But don't forget that you still have the Alpina caps !

I think I found the word, without the caps. The car looks more "raw".
And with, she looks more "Sophisticated"!

Ok, the new picture made a BIG difference in the car's look !

Without looks better, with the caps the wheels look too "filled in". They'd look really cool with BMW caps on, but I guess you can't do that?

I like them better without the center caps, but agree that you need to find a way to get a roundel or something to cover the center hub whole.

caps ON! I usually like lug-nut look but that looks like you simply have the cap missing. Alpinas are meant to show off their logos.

Lug nuts showing like that only work if the wheel is shaped around them...there it is obvious they are supposed to be hidden.
