02 745IL am/fm tuner location

I am trying to locate the am/fm tuner for a 02 745IL and was wondering if anyone knew where it might be located? I figure that it is some where in the trunk near the nav unit but could not locate it. Thanks in advance for any and all tips.

i know that the antenna receiver is in the back window , ever since 94 all BMW's and if you have tinted window reception will be poor for some stations

What exactly are you trying to resolve if I may ask sir? Is it a reception problem you are having issues with? Or are you trying to retrofit a device to communicate with aliens? (LOL). Keep in mind that the radio unit is the main controller for the complete MOST bus system. You could lose MOST of what is working right now.

The AM/FM tuner is located ( if your sitting in the drivers seat facing forward ) behind the rear left panel between the back windshield and the rear left door. Are you trying to mod it for a AUX input? Let me know I've done this on a few 7's

Your out of luck buddy

The 7 does not use your standard antenna plug like other vehicles. Bmw uses some type of diversity antenna. If your using the sirius wired fm transmitter it wont be a simple plug in. You will need to either mod the fm tuner to accept a aux input or mod it to accept a am fm antenna plug like that of wired fm modulators.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info. Will drop back and punt now, and come up with plan B. Again thanks for the info. By the way do you have any pic of the antenna system?

I was also trying to locate the AM/FM tuner to create an auxillary input. Do I have to remove the entire rear seat to get to it or just the pillar?

I found and removed my am/fm tuner, now where do I make the solder connections for the aux input line?
