Jon, any advice for an '02 330Ci owner now lusting after the ZHP Package?

Greetings,

This might be more of a whim, a lark, or purely based on unrealistic expectations, but the thread's title pretty much says it all…

I'm the happy owner of an '02 330Ci purchased last April. It was at the time, in my opinion, the finest car to be had within the realm of what I could afford. If money had been no (or less of an) object, I would have purchased an E46 M3. With the recent introduction of the ZHP Package for the 330i, my performance lust has returned, focussed now on a car that is, essentially, my own but turned up a notch. Not the, for me, unattainable M3, but closer (perhaps significantly?) to it.

I am, perhaps, a touch insane to be considering this, but the thought has crossed my mind that I might want to trade my current beauty in for a Performance Packaged 330i. Mind you, when I say my 330Ci was "in the realm of what I could afford," by that I mean near to and almost at the outer edges of what I could afford.

An '02 330Ci for a new 330i ZHP? How easy do you think it would be to negotiate this kind of deal, what might that deal look like, and what kind of financial hit might I expect to take?

Would you like to discuss this in private, or in public?

You said that you "bought"; was this a conventional
retail finance transaction, or a lease?

How is your vehicle equipped?

Last 7 digits of your VIN#?

Mileage, and current payoff??

As a preliminary word of advice I would recommend
trying to "retail out of it" first; "trade-in" values are pretty
soft right now with the high volume of new car inventory
available, and ridiculously low finance and lease rates.

I'll help any way that I can...

Oh, private I suppose.

Since you don't seem to have a PM option, what would be the best method?

C-Bear, I am going to have my hands full when I return to my office later this morning.

Whenever I take a day off, it means a couple of days of
"catch-up", especially with all of the event planning coming
to a head...

What I will request is that you sumbit a "No Hassle Quote
Request" here: http://www.cuttermotors.com/bmw/quote.html.

Please include complete details regarding your current
vehicle (e.g. description, VIN, ...etc.). We will also need
to obtain the payoff, so kindly include lender info.

Once we have all of the relevant data, Franco and I can
assess the situation. As I said earlier, you might
want to consider selling your present vehicle yourself
in order to mitigate the damages to your pocketbook.
"Near new" used cars are not bringing much money right
now due to the supply glut of new vehicles (which have
so much marketing support behind them)...

With the imminent launch of the "facelifted" MY 2004 E46
Coupes bearing down on us, there will also be a negative
impact on the value of your present vehicle.

Hmm…seems like my whim might be tricky. Regardless, I'll be submitting a No Hassle Quote Request, and I completely understand you're swamped right now, so no worries about whatever time it takes to get back to me. Frankly, I appreciate your indulging me as it is — all the rumors are true.
