dodgy sound

hello everyone,

i own an m5 e60, i purchased it in april 07, i have had no problems with it up until a couple of weeks ago when a clunking noise started from underneath the car. it sounds like a prop shaft or dif problem. when i put it in gear or press the accelerator it makes this horrible noise. my local bmw dealer said it is normal and not to worry, has anyone got any info on this.

thanks
thebrough

Welcome to the 'fest!

I love it when brits say "dodgy". I get this mental picture of someone trying to dodge responsibility. Like the dealershaft in your case...

They may be waiting for the warranty to expire...

I'd take it to an independent BMW specialist. Call around, talk to friends, see if there are any reliable ones in your area.

Sometimes the independents work on the cars more out of love for the car than a bottom line. To the dealer, you're just a number. To an indy, you're a potential friend and fellow enthusiast.

So, I have some questions:

1. Your car does 0-60 in about 4 seconds, right? How often do you test that out?

2. You have SMG, correct?

3. How many miles are on the car?

4. What maintenance have you done?
