Transmission warning light came on and saying limited gears availability!! The thing is it drives well. "Knock on wood" but the L1 gear isnt even visible anymore. The system switched over to default driving system . Has anyone 2002 or 2003 experienced this as I hear these years have extremely simlar issues? Once the light comes on do you have to take it to BMW place to get it turned off? or will it recognize when to go off? it has 91,000 miles

Now on that recall for the airbag . Thats only addresses ceratin years. mine doesnt fit. I dont understand why they just dont set the recall for this to all models 2006 and back. It basically happens to all of them almost so just cover everybody because the issue is real. This is a major safety hazard
Great... I don't see that color much around here either, must've been a unpopular color! Post some pics when you get a chance. I have not had the tranny issue, yet and hope I won't in the future, but I have only 55K miles on it, so we'll see.

If you don't have warranty at least take it to a local BMW mechanic to check it even though you said it runs fine, at least they charge a lot less than the stealer. Maybe others can add comments as for if they have had this issue?

As for the passenger airbag issue, I think you're still under the warranty. I was wrong, it is not a recall per say, it is a Consumer Advisory. The title says: "Consumer Advisory: Front Passenger Seat Occupant Detection Mat, Warranty Coverage Extension" and here is what it says in one of the paragraphs:

... If both the air bag warning lamp and the passenger air bag "on-off" lamp are illuminated, please have the vehicle checked...

Warranty Coverage Extension

"BMW of North America, LLC, is extending the warranty coverage of the vehicle for 10 years for defects that may occur for this specific air bag warning lamp issue. This 10-year coverage starts at the first in-service date of the vehicle; it not limited by the miles driven; and BMW will cover all necessary repair costs related to this issue.

I am not sure if you have both problems or one of them so I thought I copy and paste it here so you can decide if it matches your issue.

Good luck!

New to the 7

Hi everyone, after turning in my last BMW (lease 2008 535i) I'm back!, Just could not stay away from having a BMW. Just purchased this one, 2006 750Li. I love it, and I can't believe I spent around 8 months not driving a BMW... So far so good!!! (Well it's been only one day since I got it last night...)

Well, being a new used BMW owner here, I guess I need to post my bonafides, although with some of the Sevens here I feel embarrassed to even put it on here, considering it's stock as stock can be. (I later found out I'd bought the Shadowline version, which the salesman confirmed-how neat is that!)

I shot these in a hurry because I wanted to send some pics to my family to show them my latest acquisition, so if the pics aren't right, it's not the gear, it's the idiot pressing the shutter button!

Problems with my 1996 bmw 740il

I am having many problems with my 1996 BMW 740IL. It has about 283,000 miles on it. The car seems to be shaking after it starts up and vibrating a lot. It's also makes scraping type sounds. The radio is now not working, and it use to turn on at first when the car would start up, then in a few minutes it dies/turns off. Now the car is not starting at all due to the battery being drained by something, I always have to jumpstart it to get it to start. I know it's not the battery that's causing the car to not start due to me running a few tests. Also, through the exhaust pipes, it seems a lot of white smoke is coming out, i don't know if thats due to m1aybe a cynlinder/cynlinder head or two being out in the engine. ? PLEASE RESPOND AND HELP
