Time from NJ prep center to redelivery?

What's the current range of times after ED car clears customs in NJ before
it reaches East coast dealership? Mine arrived in prep center last Thursday.

Depends of course on many factors, incl. any damage that needs repair (incl. damage that occured during transport), any open campaigns, and how far the dealership is.

In my case, it arrived on a Thursday and had to wait a day for a wheel to be replaced (I kerbed the wheel in Germany) and then arrived at the dealership on Tuesday (so I had the car in my garage that Tuesday evening).

Jonathan -- Your wheel experience raises an issue I had not focused on. Will the US prep center repair any damage caused while the car is driven by the owner in Europe?

Although no one anticipates damaging anything, knowing repairs will be made on re-delivery would certainly would put one's mind at ease when public parking, etc.

Repairs will be made either by the VDC or by the dealer (and the dealer's workshop or bodyshop). Most things are caught by the VDC and it helps to document any damage on the E H Harms form AND notify your insurance company when you return from the trip so they can arrange to pay the VDC (or dealer) when the car arrives.

OK, so are you saying if the damage is the owner's responsibility (i.e., it occurs while in the owner's custody), then it will be the owner's responsibility (through his/her stateside insurance, or otherwise) to pay the VDC or dealer for the repair?

It sounded as if the repair cost for damage (such as your wheel) is picked up by BMW or under the 14 day European insurance. That would be really nice (no deductible!). I guess the European insurance is just liability insurance, not collision?

I'm not sure my stateside insurance covers me in Europe, but I will check.
