Does any one know how to reattach the door handle when it detaches from the opening mechanism. The front part of my door handle separated form the door.

- pull back the trim (coupe/convert. only) inside the door jamb to expose a slot shaped hole. - loosen a release bolt which holds the lock cylinder. - pull back and out on the cylinder cover, and pull out the cylinder. - pull back and out on the handle. - replace gaskets under the handle as necessary and assemble in reverse. Be sure to keep the notch in the female catch behind the lock cylinder secured in the catch at the bottom for reassembly (to guarantee the correct lock cylinder engagement). Also be sure to test everything (use the key as well) with the door open. If you shut the door and the lock jams, you'll have to cut through the door panel to get to it from the inside, (per BMW). Not a pleasant thought! I'd just take it to the dealer for that one - it would probably only be about a 1/2 hour labor and whatever parts are missing/damaged.
