To tell you the truth, I wound up very lucky timing wise. I started negotiating with my CA the last week in October, but I was very frustrated because the base MF was too high (.00275) on a 2008 X5, plus they were marking it up .00002 to .000295. Even though my 2005 X5 lease was expiring in December, I decided I would not do that deal, but would instead wait until the first week in December to see what would happen with the MF. I should mention that this was very difficult because I'm not normally a patient person.

Initially, the MF only dropped by .00005, so I spent about four days convincing myself that I would "settle" for a 528xi instead. Even though the MSRP was about $1000 higher than the X5, the payment would be about $140 less per month. I decided one night that I was going to lease the 5er the next morning, when I just happened to notice a posting from a dealer here that BMWFS came out with an OLP for the 2008 X5, reducing the MF by .001. That was just what I had been looking for. On top of that, they were no longer marking it up, so I got the .0017. Timing was everything, and that's why I feel lucky. I have had SUVs since 1987, and there is nothing like a BMW SUV/SAV. I don't know if I would have been happy with the 5er or not, but now it's moot.

Gotta luv this board, really helpful.

i know the 08 is better. i went with the 07's because of the 3000 cash off cap cost. i think it works out similar with the 08's minus .001 for OLP.

08 would have been better resale value wise, but it is the same car.

ENJOY IT!!

You're right - it doesn't matter if it's an 07 or an 08. The important thing is that we have a ball driving them!

I was also really glad I heard about the .001 MF reduction. I also got started at .00295 MF. I told the dealer I expected the buy rate, and got .00270 (the December rate). I then put down 7 MSD's, got the OL rate so my final MF was .00121. That and a $500 over invoice deal on a $70300 vehicle got me to $839/month.

how much were your 7 MSD's?

07 or 08?

sounds like a very good deal as well, especially the .00121 x2400 = 2.9% (UNHEARD OF RATE)

My MSD's were $6400. So, by my calculation over the 3 years it will save me abour $2300. So, not too bad a return. I will probably always leave that money tied up with BMW as MSD's and just continue to roll it over from lease to lease.

How long will the OLP discount be available?

Jason or anyone else, do you know how long the OLP is available?

That is a very nice discount. If you order a vehicle now, does the OLP get locked in just like your lease rate? Or do you have to take a vehicle from inventory?

I was seriously considering an X5 for my wife in the Spring but this current deal is attractive.

I believe that the OLP is good to Jan 2, and is for deliveries taking place between now and then as I understand it.

Hi all,
I joined several months ago, but I've only posted once before. Thought I'd share my current experience, since I've seen a few posts regarding current deals. I've also confirmed via several dealerships in SoCal that the OLP of .00170 is good through January 2nd. My current X3 lease expires April 16, and I do not want to terminate early, so I emailed 7 dealerships from San Diego to L.A. to see how I could lock this great MF. I haven't ordered yet, but via email I've confirmed the following deal with a local dealership:
'08 X5 3.0, Alpine White/Beige, Premium, Tech, Comfort Access, Ipod Adapter, Running Boards for 750 over invoice. Will order with these specs prior to EOY to lock in the rate and because I don't want to term my lease early, the dealer has advised that he will push the production out to mid January. Expectng a 6-8 week production turnaround, the car should arrive at the dealership late Feb/early March, and they've offered to hold the car on their lot until I'm ready for lease return of my X3. The dealerships I've emailed explained that the rate lock is good as long as you take delivery of the car within 90 days.
Hope this info helps! I've got a date with the dealership next week to place my order and lock that great rate.

Clarification

Just found out that my dealer needs to clarify BMW FS policy on December OLP. Another dealership I emailed advised that the OLP is good only on December purchases. This dealer's understanding was strictly based on verbiage contained within the bulletin announcing the OLP. So now the question arises of whether the OLP can truly be locked. The SA is going to contact BMW FS to clarify. I'll let you know.

I am in the process of starting to get quotes since my lease expires in February. SLow response from dealer and initially insane offers a couple of months ago.
I am afraid that MB ML and GL series will be more affordable even if I don't want it.

Also contemplating buying the current X5 when lease expires for residual of 28k (had it 36 mo and 41,000mls, as an 05).

I am in Atlanta area with several dealers so will shop around for sure.

Try Adrian at BMW/Mini of South Atlanta. He's a board sponsor and will give you a good deal. just mention you're a bimmerfest member.

Congrats. Did you go through BMW NS or find something closer to you in San Fran? Glad I was able to provide some info. that helped.

WOW! I'm glad I'm stationed here in Germany! We services members get great bennies through the military sales division of BMW. The MSRP states side is crazy!

I suppose if I just got a lease on a 2007 X5 and the dealer didn't mention the $2500 rebate I am SOL, eh? Should have checked here first.

Oh and I forgot to mention this was off a trade in for a 2006 325i with 34K miles. Got 26K for the trade in. Thought it was a ok deal.
