2002 745i problems with the I-drive Computer

Okay, this is the deal. Im still learning this car, but my I-drive computer seems to be frozen, which makes none of the electronics work i.e. cd, cd changer, voice command, navigation nothing that uses the i-drive. this happened to me one other time, I was pumping gas and I accidently hit the I-drive control button. Apparently that pissed it off and it freezes the system up and I cant do anything. I ended up parking it for about an hour and it was fine. Well it happened a second time, now im getting irritated with it. Has anyone had this problem before?? If so what can I do to fix it. My BMW guy has never heard of that happening before and it is going to be forever before I can get my car in. Any suggestions would help.
Thanks,

bmw tech i just forward info that i learn from you and my past experiences. aarontimmins i think your nav is cd based ( if you look in the truck and open the panel on the left side you'll see a cd or dvd player. the mk 3 will say cd and the mk 4 will say dvd. ) the cd based system was slower and known to have problems. thats why in md 03 bmw updated there navi system to the mk 4. which is faster and less problem prone.

BMW tech - my 2002 has been doing the same thing, and it also had the same problem as another forum member, where I got a loud pop in the speakers..

But because my BMW service center (Towne BMW) can not get it to duplicate the problem, and there have been no error codes given they are saying that they can not do anything...

Is there anything that I can do, I have called the 800 number for BMWNA and they have been no help... The only thing they did was take down my complaint and say thats all they could do....

Please help..

sunny_j U DA MAN!
could you explain to me what a MOST bus is and how important it is to perform luminous reduction and all the neccessary test plans including jumping every module one at a time until the problem goes away.and if you have tested all the components (TCU,LOGIC 7,CDC,NAV,ANY RETROFITTED ACC.) is it possible that the MAIN control unit which is the M-ASK (radio unit in dash) to be the culprit? And if the NAV has proven to have been causing the feedback or reset, wouldn't that be under warranty and the validity of the complaint does not mean he just wanted the system updated to DVD and that faking the symptom is not what is happenning here?
