E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135. |

1 Series ED
Just to let you know.
For those of you planning on taking ED of your 1 Series. ED will not have any allocation. 1 Series will have to come out of dealer allocation like the M's and 6er's So if you plan on doing ED, your center must submit an allocation/production number with the pre-reservation to ED. Otherwise, there will be no reservation. in order for the pre-reservation to be processed. That is all.

Go ahead and ruin my day. See if I care.
![]() Hopefully by the time I'm serious about this (October 2008 at the earliest), there will be ED allocation. If the 128i ends up more expensive than a Z4, I may just forgo a trip to Germany next year.

Does anyone have any realistic information about this tragic turn of events? Historically, what can we expect as a minimum before ED allotment is really available?

Just went down: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=249175 The deals on the ///M Coupe were really too good to pass up. Even with ED a 135i would have been more money. |

So let me see if I get this.. You can still do ED and get the ED discount, but since it will come out of the dealer allocation, you won't get the deals that we can get on ED E9x..
Am I right? So basically, with similar options, I am probably getting a better price on a ED Invoice + $1000 335i E90 than I could on a 135i ED which will not be anything close to ED Invoice +$1000

Why cancellations? You can't cut a deal at the usual invoice-plus prices? Because the buyer could still get the ED discount . . . as long as you are willing to give up an allocation slot.

Since it's going to be such limited production,I heard today that they will be limited editions, possibly signed and numbered, similar to the last year of the Z8 Alpina.

The 1 series will be gone from the US market in 3-4 years.
It will fail miserably, like the 318 hatchback. Sport coupes are hard enough to sell in the US, let alone tiny little sporty coupes that are expensive, and heavy. I am sure it is a fantastic car, but making them come from allocation is strange, because this isn't new, as we all know its been out for years in Europe... But they are marketing it as "new model", which is misleading.... Can't imagine why anyone would want to get one, when the 3 series will be cheaper on ED, and the 1 series doesn't offer a very significant weight savings, etc. |

I knew this was going to happen with 1 Series allocations...in fact I questioned it in a post a few weeks back that I can't seem to find. Also just called the BMW ED department and they're not even sure if they'll get allocations at all before the end of '08. |

you seem to imply that the 3 series will experience a significant price increase in January, 2008. Why? ![]() Are you blaming this on currency? There has been wide speculation on this issue in this forum... |

Please do not compare this to the 318ti, they are not event close. The 318ti was a piece of crap, had many as loaners. The 1er will be a succes, you'll see. There is a reason it is a coupe here and not a hatchback. |

Maybe BMW NA feels that giving people 11-12% off their already cheapest car was going to down market?
As for whether it'll sell, in 135i form it's the fastest non-M BMW coupe ever made, and in 128i form it's the cheapest BMW in the showroom. No doubt it's going to sell like hotcakes, therefore there's no need for ED allocation, i guess. ![]() 4-seat coupes always sell well, it's 2 seaters that don't.
