I'm the other around... I think that steptronic only comes in handy during traffic and long trips. It can get boring at times.

Mein Auto: 2006 330i
Last week I bought a 2006 BMW 330i with 50,900 miles on it from a local family owned dealership. The car looks, smells and feels new (except for some tiny residues of debris and mosquitos (Florida) on the hood and headlights that I still have to figure out how to clean/buff).

I had the car inspected and all it needs is an oil change, the air filter and the a/c filter. The car still has 60% life left in the break pads and rotors and there are no leaks or problems anywhere else. The carís maintenance history looks very clean with nothing out of the ordinary.

I am still assessing the possibility of purchasing extended warranty. The cheapest extended warranty I am running across charges $3,400 for up to 5 years/100K miles but from a company with very bad reviews at a couple different blogs. All other companies want between $4,200 and $4,600 which I think is way too high.

As a first-time bmw owner I am just trying to get a feeling as to whether I should expect for things to start breaking (just like the 5 and 7 series seem to be doing), and assess expense of repairing those parts/areas that are most likely to go bad.

Iíd appreciate getting feedback from those 330i owners so that I get a better idea on what lies ahead.

Thank you

I just picked up my new (to me) 2006 330i manual silver/black with SP, PP and heated seats. 46k miles and got it at a great price. Was traded in on a audi so I bought it from an audi dealer. The platinum extended warranties that I have been investigating have been $2700'ish for 5/100k.

The other day I drove a 325, 328, and 330. The 325 seemed to be a dog, but the 330 was real nice. Sweet engine. I like.

Anyone have the BMW performance numbers for the 2006 models (325 and 330)? What was the difference in acceleration between the 25 and 30? Anyone have the original BMW PDF brochures for that year?

Thanks!

I have the 2006 E90 brochure, product information brochure (that BMW provides to its dealers) and owner's manual, all in PDF format. They're too big to post, so, if anyone wants them, PM me and I'll send them to you via email. Alternatively, you can probably find them with some diligent searching.

I picked my 330i (details in sig below) in Munich just about two years ago. The only problem it's had are a few rattles that I'm hoping can be sorted out next month during a brake fluid change. It has about 9850 miles on the odometer, so it still looks and feels new.

I'm currently an owner of a 330i, and I must say I love my car. I do feel rather cheated and stupid, however...because the 335 came out literally 3 months after I purchased mine. DOH! So now, I'm saving for an m5 engine swap.

Of course, I'm kidding. =]

I see that the Maximum Horsepower Gain is only 5@6500rpm... How do they get peak hp of 270 out of that?

The claim (siguiendo la estrella) is:"*Dyno results for the combination of the Ram Air Intake, High Flow Throttle Body and Free Flow Exhaust."

I guess that means that, if you get the whole system they sell, including the "High Flow Throttle Body", the total max gain is to 270HP. I have not done the math as to how much the whole thing costs, but I imagine is more than $500. This does not seem to be available for my xi though

As a side note, I have been to "La Isla del Encanto" a few times. Simply love it. I hope you all go back once in a while. I have not been there since November 2006, unfortunately. I am long over due for some warm weather and awesome vistas.

I am a very new owner of a used 2004 330i and can say I love it. I have a 45-minute drive to work that now is not so bad. It was with some measure of satisfaction that I bought the car out from under a Delta pilot that did not have his cash in time. So now as I sit on the tarmac on yet another Delta delayed flight or suffer their poor customer service, I think about unlocking the car, starting the engine and driving home, all with a smile.
Otherwise, I must admit slightly being overwhelmed by all of the new things I have to know owning this car. My previous plod horses were - gas, wash and change the oil, this is a bit more of a thoroughbred.
So, as I have time, I'll be back for a read, but I would rather drive....
