Whos Setting Orange County Up? Last Year We Met Up At The Spectrum Whats Down For This Year???????

i'm in irvine, 2 minutes from the spectrum. went last year, GOING THIS YEAR!!! missed the caravan last year, slept in, i think.

i'm up for heading it up again this year

thought they normally stop in hb too at bella terra?

Yeah, I showed up on time at the spectrum, and found out (to my dismay) that the caravan left early. I wasn't the only one with a minute to spare -- two M3's showed up, and we had a mini caravan going until we caught up with the main one.

Spectrum again? I suppose www.TEHDRIVEN.com will tell us...

so the irvine spectrum is it?

so far I havent heard anything yet but I know more than likely it will be Irvine

I think we should have the OC caravan meet at the Huntington Beach Bella Terra.

i really dont want to do it at bella terra because its a hassle getting everyone on the freeway. irvine has nice wide streets and its pretty much a straight shot onto the 405

So whats the plan?

i was thinking about this year having the san diego guys pull over to the parking lot and getting on the freeway again together, and by the time we get to LA, our group will be big enough to give them more than enough chance to slowly get on the freeway and meet us while driving. Last year what really held us back was that san diego gave a late call since they were not familiar with the area and ended up calling as they were passing my exit, so then got a huge jump start on us to which we were not able to catch up. i was thinking that the ikea in orange county was a better meeting spot because the parking lot is huge...and they just finished building a freeway exit that takes them right to the parking lot without trouble, making this ideal for san diego to exit smoothly and meet up with us. this time i will have a guy at the end of the line who's gonna give me a call and give me status on the position of the caravan, something tells me there are going to be more cars this time around. I'll start making some adjustments for timing by the end of this month, the LA leader from last year is going in with his team, so i need to start announcing the vacancy of an LA leader position. I'll post more info as the date nears, i might end up just going with the spectrum again.

I'm cool with the spectrum. I missed the leave time by like 5 minuteds -and had to speed like hell down the freeway to catch up. But I did, so all was well. :P

How does the caravan and large meet points get together? It sounds like one of two things:

Entire caravan pulls off the freeway and meets up with next group, then enlarged caravan gets back onto freeway. < This way sounds like it would be much more time consuming and probably somewhat hectic for everyone.

Or

The caravan has front and back end drivers in contact with other leaders. At a predetermined point they'll contact the waiting group, in this instance, the L.A. group, will load up and get on the freeway. Hopefully and in theory, this will mean the caravan continues, but has even more Bimmers join in, becoming somewhat of a living entity. < This concept sounds like it would be mighty cool and look very impressive, if done properly. Though this would be very crazy for the leaders and/or end drivers. (though I think definitely possible)

Is that right?

Also some things I noticed, and want to make clear. The San Diego caravan meets up with OC, and comes up the 405, at which point, I'm thinking it will merge onto the 101, pick up the LA drivers then continue on the 101 to Santa Barbara or other stops. Correct?

If that's right, I definitely want to check out that portion of the 101 North of the 405 and look for a good meet point for the caravan that has both a large lot where police, businesses and homeowners will not be troubled/troublesome and also has a close, quick, easy onramp to the 101.

Once the meet site is settled on, I think we can then figure out timing. Especially if we want the LA group to merge with the caravan en route.

Let me know what I'm missing or forgot.

trust me ed, meeting simultaneously on the freeway is pretty hard, but well manage, i have something else up my sleeve to make things even more complicated, but i'll PM you for that info, its not yet concrete, but its coming your way, lol,

Looks like i'll be the POC for the OC caravan, I'm waiting to get more info from HARLEYM3, but until I do im a give my info to whomever wants its... my number is 714-661-3046... stay up on the posts so you know whats going down...

and to add to my post, we might have a location change for the OC meet point

Ikea lot would be perfect, nice midway point so us North OC people don't have to go all the way down to the Spectrum.

thats what i was told, so lets see if I can make we can make this happen... it would be the IKEA off the 405... for it would also be easy for the SD crew because they will get off of susan street, its the new exit off the 405....

IKEA off the 405 is the perfect location because of the new exit...and perfect for me because its only a few minutes away from my house

Well fellas looks like its going to be at the IKEA off the 405 in Costa Mesa

Sounds good.. anyone want a separate caravan for those of us who want to go up a night or two early?
