8 days to replace a side mirror...and counting.

That is correct, my 745i sports side-mirror was knocked off 9 days ago. I dropped my car off at Tischer BMW in silver spring last Thursday. That was over a week ago and they just called to say the side mirror is finally painted but they didn't have time to install it. A few years ago I installed two M5 side-mirrors on my 540i sport in under two hours. Not really sure how a team of BMW service mechanics cannot get a side-mirror on the car. Its actually sad because from my past experiences with Tischer their sales dept is well stocked with knowledgeable sales reps. They also provide an excellent selection of loaner cars and rentals. I am travelling to Del Ray on Monday so I will not get my car back until the following Monday, at that point they will have had my BMW for 18 days.

-that's not right. It's the loaner worth it? If not, I will ask for a "better' loaner for over the holidays. It will be cheerless for me too to be without my 7 over the festive days.

I had my driver side mirror broken a few weeks ago. It was just dangling... real eye sore. Took about 4 days for the new mirror 2 come in and another 2 days to put the mirror on and buff the scratches out the door. I was lucky the back cover wasn't damaged. So not need to paint.

UPDATE: 15 days to replace a side-mirror.

Thanks for your responses....I was very tempted to do it myself but the insurance company insisted it get done by the dealership or I wouldnt see any $. So I just called Tischer again, I am in florida and wanted to confirm that I am clear to pick up my 7 on Saturday morning when I return. Service rep: "The body shop is still putting the new mirror on the car, it should be done by friday."; My wife and I combined have owned 5 BMWs in the past 4 years and this is the worst service I have ever received. BMWNA will be receiving an earful when they call for my post service review. They have had my car for 15 days to replace a side mirror.

That sucks bro. You should go cut the service reps Achilles. I'd recommend taking it to Russel next time, but they drop cars off of lifts...

I had mines done at Tate BMW in Annapolis.

Originally took it to Passport, called to make the appointment CLEARLY told the person more than 1 tim that this was an insurance claim.

Drop the car off and my SA says they don't honor insurance estimates and "We aren't a body shop"

Still wondering why the person who made my appointment aint refer me to their body shop...

Didn't have these issues when I was driving a Lexus. Thas why I'm going back soon.

Also I haven't had a call from BMWNA regarding my trip to the service Dept the last 3 times I took the ar in. WONDER WHY?

At night I backed out of my garage too fast and clipped the mirror. Oh yes, for all e65 owners, the side mirrors are pot-metal directly to the frame...they do not give if hit like every other bmw I have owned. Why did they do this on the widest produced BMW...no clue. Dont get me wrong, I love this car. BTW, I turn my car on when I picked it up and the rear license plate warning came on. Yeah, they messed up the ground to the bulb, it goes out now every other day.
