Irv certainly knows what he is doing and how to make the process streamlined.

I did get a friggen sales tax bill from the state of MI a year later (technically usage tax on the import). I don't know what their problem is, as Irv had paid my MI state sales tax properly. I just sent the MI government a copy of the doco (sales tax reciept) Irv gave me when I picked up the car and that should take care of their enquiry.

Irv is a good person to work with.

I ordered my 09 M3 through Irv back in May and it was redelivered to me yesterday. Irv is definitely the most knowledgable CA I've worked with (my 3rd BMW, 3rd different dealer). He politely dealt with my constant changing of options and nagging about redelivery. I really appreciated getting responses to my emails within 15 minutes or less just about every time (he can't always be at the computer, can he?)

I definitely recommend him, especially if you're in the Chicagoland area.

What can I say Irv is awesome! I found out about him through this very forum. Irv has many references and I had an amazing experience using him. I am in Buffalo and Irv is in Chicago so don’t hesitate to use Irv because you are located out of state. I did a European Delivery along with a Performance Center Delivery and both were phenomenal experiences and I would not hesitate to do both again. I did the ED in June and the PCD in early August and Irv made them painless. He is very experienced at doing European Deliveries along with Performance Center Deliveries. You want to use someone who has done a European Delivery so why not use Irv! If anyone ever needs to private message to ask me any questions about Irv don’t hesitate. I guarantee he will make buying your new Bimmer painless like no one else can!

I purchased my 535i from Irv this summer. I live in Oregon and Irv handled everything by e-mail and phone. He knows what he is doing and made the process easy and clear to understand.

The delivery at Welt went great and my daughters loved it. I picked the car up in Barrington drove it back to Oregon throught Montana.

I can't say enough about Irv and I will definitely buy from him again when I am ready. I recommend him highly and I tell everyone who asks where I bought the car that they should use him.

Hello, everybody. I had the absolute best experience using European Delivery with Irv Robinson this summer. Picked up my 328 xdrive sport wagon in Blue Water Metallic at the Welt in July, and drove through Germany putting a thousand miles on it. Just got it back in the USA, and every bit of the experience has been top-notch and professional. I will be getting another BMW using Irv and EDeliveryin the next few years as well, just couldn't be happier that I did this. I saved a ton of money and had a stellar time while at it. YEAH!!!

Yeah, getting communication seems to be a challenge not many CA's are up to these days. Good to hear yours went so well. I've heard great things about Irv. Congrats to you.

We picked up my wife's x3 in July and put 2600 miles on it driving through Germany, Austria, Italy and France before dropping it in Paris. Instead of picking it up in Dallas, Irv arranged for us to pick it up in Spartanburg and do the Performance Driving Course, which was one of the best experiences we've every had! From start to finish, Irv was there with us every step of the way, and went above and beyond to make sure that the entire experience was flawless. This is our 4th BMW and we will make a point to do ED with Irv on every future one that we buy.

Another happy customer of Irv. We picked our 335xi Coupe from Germany on May 13th, traveled around Czech Republic, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary and finally Austria. Did PCD in mid August, drove to Maryland and New York from there and finally back to Chicago. Trip details are posted here.

Dealing with Irv has been best experience so far. We exchanged about 200 emails back and forth. This is our first BMW and definitely not the last. I will return to Irv for the next one as well.

Once, you deal with Irv you will never look for another CA. You cannot go wrong with Irv.

We found out about Irv on this forum, and have just completed a great European Delivery thanks to him. Everything went as smooth as silk, from placing the order (at a great price) , tracking it on the BMWNA website, taking delivery of our beautiful e91 at the Welt on 10/28, and now waiting patiently for it to arrive (on the Manon, due to arrive in NJ on 11/21). We even got to visit some of our friends in Germany. Even our flights on Continental were all on time. This was our third ED (the first was in 1982 before it was called ED), but the first with Irv and at the Welt. It was truly unforgetable. Thanks, Irv.

I am picking up my M3 Convertible on Saturday, November 21 at the Welt. I am in Florida and found Irv through this site. As I was totally frustrated with my CA here in Miami, finding Irv put the ED experience back on track for me. Irv is professional, informative and communicative from the start. Most of all, as I was leasing this vehicle, I took a leap of faith making many committments in advance of the trip...with the lease pricing being the last piece of the puzzle at the very last minute. Irv treated me fairly and honestly and provided what I feel to be a great lease price, far better than I would expect from my local Miami dealer in this situation.

I mean this in the nicest way and to do not want to offend but I think it's wonderful that you have a love and passion for BMW's at your age and have the desire to pick it up at the Welt. You look very happy with your new e91.

On my 2nd ED with Irv and all I can say is - he's the best; would never consider anyone else. Smooth transaction. Plus the guy has boxed Ali - how many CA's can say that??

There is not too much that can be added to this tread. I’m fortunate enough to live very close to Motor Werks, and as a first timer to ED, and very skeptical person in regards to “dealers” picking Irv was no brainer. As someone mentioned before, Irv is not just a CA, he develops relationship with the costumers; so the whole ED process is much easier then getting a car of the lot. My process began in September 09, with few emails and raw quote, than I meet with Irv in person (advantage of living close but not necessary…….necessary if you want to see Irv with Ali). I received my order confirmation for Dec 18th Welt delivery within few days for 335i. Dreaded waiting period begun, I had a time to think (too much), changed options few times (Irv right on it), test drove 335i few more times and....eventually 335d (with Irv) – changed my order completely 2 weeks before production to 335d (Irv got it done!).
My time line:
Welt Pick up Dec 18th
Munich Drop-off Dec 18th
Loaded on Manon Jan 14th
Arrived NJ Feb 2nd
Cleared Customs Feb 11th
Arrived at Werks (house) Mar 1st.

Delivery took little longer than anticipated, do to customs,/VDC (weather...); out of Irv control.
Well any one who considers ED, give a call, email, fax, or show up and talk to Irv; you will not be disappointed

First off, I just have to say wow. Who knew buying a car could be so easy. Everyone knows car salesmen to be "snakes in the grass" but Irv is really top notch. He is a very straight forward and helpful person who really cares about his customer and not so much about the sale. Irv was always a phone call away with advice for example when my flight to Germany got canceled while I was en route on my journey. Once I got their, the Welt is just amazing, and the feeling you get when you drive your baby on the autobahn is unreal. Finally this sense of ecstasy comes to an end while you are forced to give in your keys. But, you can always take re-delivery at the Performance Center like I did, and once you FINALLY get there (traveling to see my car has really had it out for me), you get to rip out a replica of your beauty in ways that you would never do. (if YOU actually do, shame on you haha). Irv is one of the main reasons my buying experience was so wonderful, everything with him was hassle free and he is always trying to make you happy which is something rare to find in a car dealer. If you are thinking about buying a BMW I would definitely associate Irv with the best possible experience you can have while doing so.

I have to 1000% agree with this statement; members of my family have known Irv for 40 years - and he's a stand-up guy through and through and I'd never buy a car through anyone but him.

+1 (actually + more than 1) for Irv. We've owned more than 30 cars over the last 30 years. Been to scores of dealerships and dealt with numerous salesman. Irv is hands down the most helpful and least pushy. The only reason I can fathom someone going somewhere else is to save a few hundred dollars more. Some finance managers at other dealerships may cut better deals than Motorwerks, but you will get hosed in other dishonest ways. Trust me, I actually did that and learned my lesson!

I have now purchased not one but two BMW ED autos from Irv Robinson in the last 2 years. He is the most informed salesperson I have come across at any dealership period. No games, just honesty and the best car buying experience I have ever had. If only for the customer service alone I would give it a five star rating. Throw in the knowledge, honesty, deal, car, and experience and you have a winner. I will always deal with Irv. All salesman could learn something from him. You don't always get what you pay for but with Irv Robinson you will get more.

As part of our December, 2009 ED for our 2010 335i Convertible in Munich, we travelled around Germany for about two weeks. One of the highlights of this trip was the one lap of the Nordschleife at the Nurburgring. Even though it was about 45deg. F, we made the run with the top down and the heater and seat heat fully on high.This video (with some engine sound) captures some of the challenges of this track. We stayed in a hotel room which overlooked the Start/Finish line. While we enjoyed a glass or two of wine from our balcony, we observed a number of cars that were performing track testing. Altogether a great experience. I intend to post another account of this trip with some photos of the Christmas Markets.

I will 100% second all the great comments about Irv!!!! After several years of talking with me, he sold me a 135i (it was shipped) as I sadly realized that my long awaited Euro Delivery was still a few years away....HOWEVER, due to Irv's profound patience, kindness, extreme knowledge and ED experience, a 1,000% lack of arrogance or BS, Irv will be the MAN to arrange an ED of either a new M3 later this year or a new F10 M5 sometime in early 2011.....as others have said, Irv is 'DA MAN!!!!!!
