Need Help. Auxiliary Fan Stays On????

I own a 96 328i & when I got out of work today, the battery to my car was dead. I noticed that the Auxiliary fan was the only thing that was on in my car. All of the other functions would not work due to the fact that the battery was dead. I jump started the battery & I headed home. The only thing I did was take out the fuse to which the fan was on so it would stop turning so the battery would not go dead on me tomorrow morning. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? Could it be a relay & where can I find a good FIY page I could go look at. Thanks....
